Leafs fans, please all collectively give your heads a shake. You actually think Burke's going to grab both of the possibly two best players in this year's draft in Yakupov and Galchenyuk? Just by giving up that pylon Schenn (who every leafs fan is just dying to give away, along with Kadri) and Jake Gardiner, who's had one good year? In his rookie year no less. Ever heard of the sophomore slump? You know, the one Doughty, Myers, Subban, etc all go through? You will next year.
Leafs are going to be pretty good next year with Parise, Luongo, Yakupov, Galchenyuk, Getzlaf et al. on their team. Give me a break. - Saundies

Dreger said in his latest article that the Leafs are not willing to part with Jake.
BB won't make that move esp. considering he might be able to land Shultz for free if Gards is a Leaf.

Not logical. Habs are rich dude and sell out every game, maybe it's hard for you to understand being an Islanders fan and all. 7.5 mil to Geoff Molson is chump change. - Saundies
so youre saying the guy would prefer to pay 7.5 million than to NOT pay it? |

is it certain that gardiner would follow shultz to the ends of the earth? are they that close? and if they are, why wouldn't gardiner pick the place to play and tell shultz to sign there?
it's assumed that shultz holds the cards where he wants to sign but why wouldn't gardiner have a say?
everybody (aside from oilers fans) always puts down edmonton as a destination for players so why is everybody assuming that gardiner would want to move there? isn't it easier for him to tell his buddy, "come to toronto" or "tell burkie to deal me to ____ and we can both go there."
is gardiner the catcher in the relationship and so he gets no choice?
my point being that if gardiner is so close to shultz, the question should be, does he want to go to edmonton. - RealityChecker

Im completely and utterly perplexed at how Gardiner is worth the 1st overall pick. - NYRPowerPlay
If you could get Gardiner AND Schultz with the 1st when you already have Hall , Eberle and RNH .... WOULD YA ?
seriously ? |

I'm saying he's indifferent about paying it regardless if it means making the team better. |

Oh you mean like how Galchenyuk is going to be in a couple years? The player that the Habs, and NOT Burke, is probably going to get at the Draft? - Saundies
Sorry, where in the standings did the Habs finish last season? |

I don't see the Oilers taking anything less than Gardiner + the 5th overall for their 1st overall and I don't see the Leafs offering that. Plus some other team could easily top the offer if they wanted to badly enough.
Hold on the the 5th and draft a good player. Try to find some solutions through other trades and FA signings...... |

My Isles Rumor.. feel free to crush it..
Isles trade their 4th pick, Dehaan, and a 3rd round pick to Habs for
PK Subban and Gomez.
Habs have money to go after Suter, Parise, etc. They get a solid puck moving D-man prospect in Dehaan.. and a 3rd.
Isles get their D-man and also get closer to cap floor spending less (they need to get about 18 mill to floor.. Gomez cap hit is 7.4..only making 5.5.. next year makes 4.5 same cap hit.. let's face it until they have an Arena deal in place Wang is trying to limit his losses at this point).
There is my Rumor.. a little more feasable then "going hard after Jokinen". How many centers can one team have? Jt, Nielsen, Strome, Brock nelson, Reasoner, Bailey, etc. etc. - niteislander
Thanks for allowing the us to crush this.....NO WAY IN HE-double L is Subban worth our 1st Round AND a top 4/6 prospect(nor is he "The Answer" to our Defensive needs) - AND we do them the favor of taking Gomez off their hands?
If Garth could get PK for a DeHaan and a lesser prospect/2nd or 3rd rounder, I'd be ok with that.
Also, Garth recently stated Bailey is starting the year at WING. |
