The more I read up on dumb, the more I like him. 20 goals, plus he throws monster hits and he fights. He's been compared to subban, I see a bit of him in dumba but he also reminds me of phaneuf for some reason. Probably cause some of the hits i've seen from dumba remind of some of the huge hits phaneuf throws.
- The Iceman

Dumba is the wildcard - he could be the steal of the draft or he could be the biggest bust. That's why he's not a top 5 pick, for that uncertain reason alone.

Scouts love him but just can't quite nail him down as far as his overall game goes.

He's has a great attitude though & if he puts it all together, he could be the best pick in this draft.

Leafs fans, please all collectively give your heads a shake. You actually think Burke's going to grab both of the possibly two best players in this year's draft in Yakupov and Galchenyuk? Just by giving up that pylon Schenn (who every leafs fan is just dying to give away, along with Kadri) and Jake Gardiner, who's had one good year? In his rookie year no less. Ever heard of the sophomore slump? You know, the one Doughty, Myers, Subban, etc all go through? You will next year.

Leafs are going to be pretty good next year with Parise, Luongo, Yakupov, Galchenyuk, Getzlaf et al. on their team. Give me a break.

You could also say that Gardiner + Shultz could be the building blocks, as Carlyle is a Defensive style coach and will probably hinder those 2 offensive prospects...

I'm not saying it's not a lot, I'm saying there's no way in hell Subban's traded for just the 4th overall pick, getting rid of Gomez or not. Why don't we just keep Subban and bury Gomez in Hamilton? Problem solved.
- Saundies

in theory that works but i bet the habs owner would prefer to not pay someone millions as opposed to paying someone millions...logical?

Because to get something you got yo give somthing and i'm all for it

Having Yakupov and Gally as building block for the leafs franchise is a no brainer if possible even if it cost Gardiner +

- Kuleminator

But you'll still have to give up something + Gardiner to get to #1.

So if Schultz wants to play out of the gate, knows Gardiner well, sounds like potential for Toronto to get another solid young D for NOTHING.

You trade Gardiner, you probably have no chance at Schultz and still have issues with goaltending and now the franchise rests on the shoulders of two teenage Russian boys.

Smog alert in TO today?

Didn't say they were better, I can just see Carlyle ruining them. Pulling a Washington and benching them everytime Toronto has a lead lol.

Not logical. Habs are rich dude and sell out every game, maybe it's hard for you to understand being an Islanders fan and all. 7.5 mil to Geoff Molson is chump change.

So why wouldn't Toronto just keep Gardiner sign Schultz if everyone is so sure he plays where ever Gardiner is. (exactly how good of friends are these two fellas?)

Then stay at 5 and grab Galy or Forsberg. ( assuming Columbus and Islanders are drafting 2 of the many strong Dmen which many feel they will.)

That gives TO.. Gardiner, Schultz plus Galy or Forsberg.

Isn't that better than Yakopov and Galy or Forsberg? minus whatever you have to send with Gardiner to get #1. ( 35th overall maybe more)

Rask was JFJ.

Although, he scouted Rask, so makes you wonder what he saw in Raycroft...

you're dead wrong it's John ferguson JR who made the rask trade and by the way Kessel was 6th in nhl scoring last year so how goes Gomez ?

He took a risk. The year Raycroft was on he was unbelievable and it's hard to tell just how good Rask was gonna be. High risk, high reward if he could revive Raycroft's career.

is it certain that gardiner would follow shultz to the ends of the earth? are they that close? and if they are, why wouldn't gardiner pick the place to play and tell shultz to sign there?

it's assumed that shultz holds the cards where he wants to sign but why wouldn't gardiner have a say?

everybody (aside from oilers fans) always puts down edmonton as a destination for players so why is everybody assuming that gardiner would want to move there? isn't it easier for him to tell his buddy, "come to toronto" or "tell burkie to deal me to ____ and we can both go there."

is gardiner the catcher in the relationship and so he gets no choice?

my point being that if gardiner is so close to shultz, the question should be, does he want to go to edmonton.

Dear Ek,

The islanders have 1 priority... 1.. it is a top pairing D-man. Please adjust your insane rumors accordingly. Saying the Isles are going hard after jokinen is absurd.

- niteislander

Isles Top priority 1.1 is making the salary floor..........and possibly replacing PAP.
A sign of things to come.

Kessel's as soft as baby poop and Gomez is great! Gonna look awesome in a bulldog's jersey next year! Maybe I'll order one and put it in the corner for my dogs to lay on it.

Seguin + Hamilton + whoever else >>>>>>>>>Kessel. Bottom line.

Edit: By the way, did you know that the "terrible" JFJ made the playoffs more in his years in TOR then the "messiah" Burke has so far? Digest that for a bit.
