Dumba would be good for the Habs.... I want the Leafs to get him, but we dont need him
- cor99
The more I read up on dumb, the more I like him. 20 goals, plus he throws monster hits and he fights. He's been compared to subban, I see a bit of him in dumba but he also reminds me of phaneuf for some reason. Probably cause some of the hits i've seen from dumba remind of some of the huge hits phaneuf throws.

My brother in-law told me Thomas took the year off because he believes in the Myan prediction that the worls is gonna end this december... That's a pretty fun rumour.

At first I was all like not sure it'd be worth it to lose Gardiner just to move up 4 spots. But then I realized that the suggestion was that Edmonton was dumb enough to trade the 1st overall for Gardiner straight up, and I was like

What else are you including?

Nothing major like the 5th. Possibly another mid round pick or a mid tier prospect seeing what the end result will be.

The talent gap from 1-5 is not that big to the point where you have to completely sell the farm to move up.

Guys like Galchenyuk and Grigorenko are very close to Yakupov and its been argued by a few scouts that if Gally wasnt hurt all season and Grigorenko didn't go down with mono (ignoring the Russian factor as well) that they would be challenging Yak for first overall.

Even Murray is on top in some scouts list

- niteislander

and for gomez who IS a HAS been....and paying a poopload (contract wise AND what youre sending back to montreal) for him to take up a valuable roster spot....

i bet habs fans would consider the 4th overall for PK and Gomez....

If it's a guarantee that Shultz plays with Gardiner... we would need that in writing...lol.

Then the Isles would like to trade the 4th overall for Gardiner!!!

With Ellis, Beaulieu, Tinordi along with Emelin and Subban already here we really don't need Dumba either
- willey101
Yeah, you guys need offense big time. You gave up less goals then 3 or 4 teams that actually made the playoffs. I think you guys take either galchenyuk or grigorenko.

So let me get this straight, Toronto is going to trade the best defensive prospect they've had in years, to Edmonton, to draft a Russian #1 overall, so Edmonton can then sign a FA kid out of college? Then Toronto can draft his boyfriend 5th?

Why doesn't Toronto hold onto Gardiner, thereby giving Schultz a reason to sign with them?

Or an I underthinking these 'hockey truths' that get spun here daily?

my point is-- the 4th + a 3rd + dehaan for PK + an absolute liability is waaaay further off than 4th for PK + liability....whether its a deal or not is moot...

Because to get something you got yo give somthing and i'm all for it

Having Yakupov and Gally as building block for the leafs franchise is a no brainer if possible even if it cost Gardiner +

Well it certainly would be a change of heart for Burke because he clearly stated that Gardiner isn't going anywhere.

And no Oiler fans, he's not going to Edmonton unless it's a straight across deal or a mid-pick/prospect. If you think you're getting Gardiner & a high pick/top prospect, it's not happening.

I'm not saying it's not a lot, I'm saying there's no way in hell Subban's traded for just the 4th overall pick, getting rid of Gomez or not. Why don't we just keep Subban and bury Gomez in Hamilton? Problem solved.

He looked like he needed to bulk up a bit when I met him last year... but I could easily see him make the team (I am guessing Nino starts in B-port).

My other rumor would be Komi to isles ... same situation.. komi cap hit is 1 mill more then he is getting paid and Wang is def. not happy about having to reach cap floor. to take Komi would be a favor to u guys.. what would the trade look like?

- niteislander

Komi + 1st round '12 + 2nd round '13 for Tavares

You could also say that Gardiner + Shultz could be the building blocks, as Carlyle is a Defensive style coach and will probably hinder those 2 offensive prospects...
