*Oli Jokinen is at that breaking point we talk about a lot. He will either sign a deal with Calgary VERY soon or he will be breaking ties...likely this week.
Hate to nit-pick, but are you saying he otherwise signs or doesnt sign?... |

I do agree that 5th+Gardiner is probably over pay, but Edmonton could always send say a 3rd pick or something else back. I could see like 3 players and a pick going for 2nd overall. - raretomediumrar
Gardner, Schenn, 5th for 1st and Eberle???
you know you want to |

Interesting move by Toronto would that happen..
EDM would need a future 1st rounder+ in compensation.
I just don't think gardiner is worth a #1 overall pick.. not saying he is a bad talent.
They would then probably have to trade another young talent like Gun or Schenn in order to move up to #2 or #3 in order to get Galy away from CLB. |

It may seem that Edmonton is the best fit for Schultz but he will never get the spotlight he'd get in TO. RNH, Hall, Eberle and the likes will always over shaddow him. He's better off playing for the Leafs with Guards, he won't have to break a sweat to crack the lineup from camp. I don't think Burke is trading up for Nail, he doesn't really fit the bill aka Big power forward Burke covets. Keep your 5th pick and you will draft a franchise player (a forward ideally but a great Dman also is not bad as this year there is more quality Dmen than forwards). Leafs won't be a cup contender next season regardless, so why not draft a top player and grrom him to become a franchise player the likes of E. Staal/S. Weber |

Hmmm, Yakupov + Galchenyuk? So does that mean Carlyle is being fired when they come up to the NHL? Gardiner + Shultz makes more sense for Carlyle, while say if Eakins gets promoted I could see Yakupov + Galy |

I just assumed the 5th would be going with him...though then I have no idea how they would get the 2nd or 3rd pick as well... - Big_Lightnin
If the Leafs trade Gardiner to Edmonton then essentially they are getting two Dmen with Schultz signing in Edmonton. The Leafs would then get the 1st overall pick and nab Yak then trade down using their #5 pick to grab Gally. So the question is would Edmonton trade the #1 pick for Gardiner and Schultz ? |

gardinger -> edmonton 1st (yaks)
then draft gally
should be interesting, i dont see gardiner being a top pick in any draft, he is a very good prospect but i wouldnt pick him #1 (which is kinda what edmonton would be doing) - dmarsden2988
Yep would take more than just that forsure |

He is a Toronto prospect so his value is automatically tripled upon arrival. Imagine what Edmonton would have to give up for Kadri?

hudler will help a team win games in the regular season. he's definitely an asset in the shootout.
but he's generally unimpressive during the playoffs and he's surprisingly slow for a guy that's 5'9". |

If you poked your head out of the hole that is the MSG Network, you'd understand. Gardiner is definately worth the 1st overall. He played top defence pair minutes, as a rookie. His puck handling skills and skating are miles ahead of most 21 year old's, at this point of his career. Edmonton needs defence and if you get Gardiner, you probably get 2 for 1, with Schultz, his room-mate at North Dakota. |

I didn't think Ek basically implying that it would essentially be Gardiner+Schultz for the first would be that hard to grasp but reading comprehension is lost on some here I guess
I still don't see Edmonton making that deal though |

My Isles Rumor.. feel free to crush it..
Isles trade their 4th pick, Dehaan, and a 3rd round pick to Habs for
PK Subban and Gomez.
Habs have money to go after Suter, Parise, etc. They get a solid puck moving D-man prospect in Dehaan.. and a 3rd.
Isles get their D-man and also get closer to cap floor spending less (they need to get about 18 mill to floor.. Gomez cap hit is 7.4..only making 5.5.. next year makes 4.5 same cap hit.. let's face it until they have an Arena deal in place Wang is trying to limit his losses at this point).
There is my Rumor.. a little more feasable then "going hard after Jokinen". How many centers can one team have? Jt, Nielsen, Strome, Brock nelson, Reasoner, Bailey, etc. etc. |
