I heard he is friends with Patrick Kane. Chicago now owns the rights to both Kane and Ryan....WOW |

That's a bit insulting to Luongo - ehabs9
Im a big Lou fan but if he's such a good goalie, y not trade Schiender? The fact remains his value is high if he's UFA and coming from a team with lower expectations. |

I heard he has a "best friends" clause in his contract where he gets to list his top 10 friends in order of best to worst. |

i would definitely listen to offers on both and then decide from there.
however, realistically speaking, from a PR standpoint (and that does play into things), they will most definitely get rid of luongo. i don't see mg (or the ownership) having the big brass balls it would take to keep luongo and trade schneider. either that or the trade would have to be ben roethlisberger's hobby. |

I've heard that as well. Word is Pavelski's in the top 3, but Clowe is on his "not-friends" list.
Guess we need to show Clowe the door. |

I find it funny how everything nowadays has to do with Luongo.
I'm sorry, but if a team was trying to decide between Josh Harding and Roberto Luongo, they're probably not all that serious about their goaltending situation and aren't ready to give the Canucks what they want.
I hate how people on here compare Roberto Luongo to guys like Harding and Lindback. Listen, the guys an elite goaltender. Unless you have a Miller, a Fleury or a Lundqvist out there in play, Goaltenders like Harding and Lindback shouldn't affect Luongo's trade value. He's in a league of his own, you don't decide between unproven potential career backups and a goaltender who has carried his team to the Stanley Cup Finals and is consistently one of the best regular season goaltenders. - pker2theend
Ummmmm, isn't that what Vancouver is doing in keeping Schneider over Luongo? |

So let me get this straight, Toronto is going to trade the best defensive prospect they've had in years, to Edmonton, to draft a Russian #1 overall, so Edmonton can then sign a FA kid out of college? Then Toronto can draft his boyfriend 5th?
Why doesn't Toronto hold onto Gardiner, thereby giving Schultz a reason to sign with them?
Or an I underthinking these 'hockey truths' that get spun here daily? - pugnacious.serf
leafs have like 9 d that could make the lineup.....they have less value than a forward to acquire |

*Suter. We have heard constantly over the past six months that Suter wants to see a commitment to Nashville improving the talent up front before committing to the Preds. Talking to people today, this strategy puts the Preds in a bit of a Catch 22. Should the Preds go hard after a forward like Nash and get him they may not be able to retain both Suter and Weber. Should Suter walk away the Preds need to think about adding defensive depth, not offense. Tough spot for Poile. Many believe Poile is trying to extend Weber first so that Suter will stay. In his press conference a few days ago Poile was uncharacteristic in his statement "We hope the prospect of playing the rest of his career alongside Shea Weber is something Ryan finds appealing." That was Poile addressing Suter pretty much directly, while tipping his hand a bit.

No matter how much you ignore his age and his contract, it matter, a LOT. You, and Gillis apparently, want to have that detailed ignored, and work out a "hockey deal". Isn't happening, no matter how hard you all try to spin it after the fact.
... and make no mistake, you WILL spin it after the fact. Toronto could give you Connolly and a 7th for Luongo, and you would crow about what a sucker Burke is.
