Preceisely!

My point is that Gardiner >>> Murray, but the Oilers fans are okay with drafting Murray at #1. See where their logic comes off the tracks and fails?

- As_I_See_It

Willie Mitchell >>> Ryan Murray

The Oilers should just trade their #1 pick for Willie Mitchell

if rnh can show that he can play (and dominate at times) with his frame (roughly the equivalent of an 8 year old girl), i don't see size as a limitation to success.
- RealityChecker

I agree size is not always a limitation to success, but it is a common factor to failure in the modern NHL.

RNH didn't see playoffs yet when players are at high output and will do anything to win. Edmonton didn't have to play tooth to nail type of series with teams like NYR, NJ or LA which their success is atributed to many factors but one common denominator was SIZE!

As much as this may sound like a goofy cliche, but SIZE MATTERS

I will laugh if Montreal signs Hudler. Maybe they could trade one of their few big forwards to Buffalo for Gerbe too so that every hit on their forwards is a hit to the head.

Don't most players reach that point where if they don't resign with their teams they break ties?

Why does everyone keep expecting Burke to do something amazing? he's been how long in TO and hasn't made the playoffs and keeps stockpiling D-men but nothing up front.

Once you got Franson that's your problem if Howson wants to give him 5 years 24 millions as RFA he can

I get that.

AGAIN. What I'm trying to say is that if Gardiner >>> Murray, and the Oilers fans are okay with drafting Murray at #1, do you see where things don't add up?

- As_I_See_It

okay, let's back this up for you a little bit. gardiner had a good rookie season and is showing that he's going to be a real nice player. his rookie season was at the age of 20 and he is now 21.

you can understand how a fan (regardless of team affiliation) may say "well gardiner's good but this murray kid at 18 has the ability to surpass him. i bet that he becomes a better player in 2/3 YEARS than gardiner."

you seem to think that's totally outrageous. of course nhl players are better than prospects but the draft isn't necessarily about next season.

this may sound like a contradiction but i agree with you.

however, when it comes to top 10 picks, i would never pass up on talent for size. i would do that after the initial "star" picks. of course, if talent is equal, you pick the bigger guy. that's a no brainer but i would never sacrifice talent for size in a lottery pick.

the scouts are saying murray is good but not great in any one area.. so ill take gardiner anyday over him, not just sayin it as a leafs fan either. just being realistic

sure i can understand that.... but to say that a team that won't trade the #1 pick for him is ridiculous is not very smart.

and let's be honest, the oilers are not drafting murray number 1. you know it and i know it.

seriously, that signing was just crazy. and then in a couple months, we're going to see owners crying about how the players make too much money.

i love jones' game though. i was hoping the canucks would bring him back home this off season. and trust me, the number i was thinking that it would take to sign him was not close to $4M.

Hudler is more proven than Leino but he will likely be overpaid too. Hudler has good hands and vision but gets knocked off the puck a lot because he is slow for a small player. I don't feel bad about losing him and i think guys like Nyquist and Tatar can replace him. They might not put up as many points right away but they add other things that Hudler doesn't like speed and being able to play defense.

just to stir the pot a little with some different topics.

be it resolved: the canucks should sign ryan smyth. close to home and the type of player the team needs (aside from him being born in the early 1900's).

good idea? offer (if any) you would make?

I think he might have to just to get rid of Lou, dump him in the miniors!

even tho he might be ok in the WEST cause he wont be afarid of playing Lucic, only play him 1 time a year.

i dont know it.. i dont know why you guys want more snipers anyways lol eventually all these dudes (hall, nuge, eberle, yakupov) are gonna need to get paid it will be interesting to see how that works out. trade down or take the best dman is what the oilers should do but hey just my opinion

pk is not going anywhere, i dont know how these rumours even got started , bergervins first plans were extending subban and price, subban said hes excited to learn from therrien, like i would love to see him and gomez go to the islanders for the 4th pick and a d man in return, would love to see that happen, it would be best for the islanders and the habs, in so many ways. so so many ways. habs would have 3rd and 4th pick, filip forsberg plus galeynchuk that be sick than habs would have the money for free agency as well, but for some reason subban excites bergervin i guess, i do not know why, hes costly more so than hes helpful in my honest opinion he does not fit in montreal, i think hes dirty, and undiciplined and makes horrible choices, martin is right he doesnt understand the game yet, yees hes physical yes he has scored some important goals, he has skill, but i dont see how hes going to grow in montreal, i would seriously get something nice for him right now while we still can, i just have a feeling, especially if gomez was taken off our hands, i would actually take just the 4th pick if islanders took gomez away with subban, the things we can do with that money, and those picks,
