http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nhl/2869/pk-subban
pk is not going anywhere, i dont know how these rumours even got started , bergervins first plans were extending subban and price, subban said hes excited to learn from therrien, like i would love to see him and gomez go to the islanders for the 4th pick and a d man in return, would love to see that happen, it would be best for the islanders and the habs, in so many ways. so so many ways. habs would have 3rd and 4th pick, filip forsberg plus galeynchuk that be sick than habs would have the money for free agency as well, but for some reason subban excites bergervin i guess, i do not know why, hes costly more so than hes helpful in my honest opinion he does not fit in montreal, i think hes dirty, and undiciplined and makes horrible choices, martin is right he doesnt understand the game yet, yees hes physical yes he has scored some important goals, he has skill, but i dont see how hes going to grow in montreal, i would seriously get something nice for him right now while we still can, i just have a feeling, especially if gomez was taken off our hands, i would actually take just the 4th pick if islanders took gomez away with subban, the things we can do with that money, and those picks, - thehusla
a simple google search of "pk subban islanders" finds you this.... http://www.google.com/sea...F-8&q=pk+subban+islanders
whether there are legs to the rumor or not is a different story but PLENTY of articles about the rumor |

Its still early for Gardiner to be deemed worth a number 1 pick. - poisondhearts37
Yeah for sure, it comes down to how Edmonton judges him. And the fact that its basically a 2 for 1 deal, because Schultz will more likely sign there with Gardiner.
It would most likely have to be Gardiner and another roster player. Maybe Cody Franson?
Gardiner,Schultz and Franson. 22,22 and 24 year olds. That would shore up your defense in a hurry.
Still have Whitney,Smid,N.Schultz,Petry......Klefbom in the system.
Like everyone keeps saying, its doubtful, just pointing out thats its not as absurd as it sounds
The Oilers really have an embarrassment of prospect riches right now lol |

With Harding resigning in Minny....
I think this Goalie market just got serious...
Bernier and Luongo's trade value has just gone up..
Biron, Clemmonson, Nitty, Leightonen, Hedberg, Ellis, and Mason are the best G's to be available on July 1st.
Wow... that is a dry dry pool. |

You cant bank on a 2 for 1 idea. Esp since Schultz is rumored to go to other teams anyways without Gardiner. It would have to be Gardiner and other actual piece that Tor has possession of.

Hello people, Tambellini said that any trade scenario for the 1st overall pick would have to include a high pick. The 5th overall pick would have to be included. Burke could try to acquire another top pick from anaheim, carolina or winnipeg and then move up from there. |

It comes down to whether Edmonton thinks Gardiner is worth Yakupov
Think about it. A 18 year-old prospect who hasn't played a game yet.
Gardiner. a 22 year old prospect d-man who's already established himself as a top 4 defenseman. Then, baiting Justin Schultz to sign with them as well.
Does it really sound like a bad trade for Edmonton? Gardiner is a hell of a player, may be a top 10 d-man if the NHL one day and will definetely be going to Russia on the US Olympic team in 2014.
Then Burke has to get a package together with the 5th overall pick to get to 2.
It doesnt really sound as far out when you analyze it then it does on the surface... - t_leafs21
Good thing that they don't. |

Can't wait for Friday so we can stop talking about all those ridiculous trade scenarios for the draft. As usual, we won't see many trades for the top 10-15 picks, cost is usually too high. |

Its already a fact that if any offer sheet is thrown out at Schneider that the canucks are gonna match it no matter what. I do think that Backstrom is now expendable and might be the cheaper option(not actual salary) for a trade for some teams. - poisondhearts37
That's not necessarily true considering that we have no idea what the offer is. Furthermore, if Schneider was sheeted with a signicant offer and Vancouver matched, that would only decrease Luongo's value because other GM's would recognize that Gillis is now in a tight situation with a $5.33M back-up with a 10 year contract ("6 years" depending who you talk to )
Gillis is just posturing because he knows how brutal of a situation that would be for him and his organization and DOES NOT want to deal with it.
Lastly, with a guy like Backstrom possibly entering the G market, I have to believe that that would only decrease Luongo's value because he's another vet goalie option with a VERY reasonable contract, ESPECIALLY when it's compared to Luongo's. |

so, Leafs are going to trade up to 1st and 2nd. I'm gonna go ahead and just not hold my breath on that one - Big_Lightnin
LOL....Somehow they only give up Gardiner for the first overall so that leaves them plenty of ammunition to move in the draft to take Galchenyuk who Montreal wants at three apparently.
Man Eklund is a genius!
Gardiner for Yakupov
5th overall plus ??? for the 2nd overall = Galchenyuk
That's how easy it is eh Eklund

I will trade my Volkswagen for the Porsche you just ordered from the dealership. My VW and my cousins Civic are really good friends. The Porsche isn't proven yet as it has never been on the road. The Civic and VW both run awesome and still have lots of promise. The Civic and VW both get excellent gas mileage. I know the Porsche is much sporter but, with the echonomy the way it is.... The Civic is good friends with my Volkswagen and likely wants to park beside it.

okay, let's back this up for you a little bit. gardiner had a good rookie season and is showing that he's going to be a real nice player. his rookie season was at the age of 20 and he is now 21.
you can understand how a fan (regardless of team affiliation) may say "well gardiner's good but this murray kid at 18 has the ability to surpass him. i bet that he becomes a better player in 2/3 YEARS than gardiner."
you seem to think that's totally outrageous. of course nhl players are better than prospects but the draft isn't necessarily about next season. - RealityChecker
Exactly. You have to look at what Gardiner was when he was the same age as Murray. Not to say Murray will be better. But at this stage I think more people would rather have Murray than Gardiner. Just my opinion. |

Schultz has ZERO to do with it...somehow you have figured because he is "friends" with Gardiner the Leafs can get value for his rights? Come on bro...
Maybe Gardiner will be a top 10 d-man, but who is to say Murray won't be?
Also I know Gardiner played well and all but I don't think I would call him established just yet. Did he play well, yes, established, no. Remember when Reimer was a legitimate number 1? Don't count your chickens.

this may sound like a contradiction but i agree with you.
however, when it comes to top 10 picks, i would never pass up on talent for size. i would do that after the initial "star" picks. of course, if talent is equal, you pick the bigger guy. that's a no brainer but i would never sacrifice talent for size in a lottery pick. - RealityChecker
I am with you on that 100%. Skill then size is right order.
It just seems that size is becoming a winning criteria that many teams are going for. |

That depends, having Gardiner helps now, having Murray helps later. Depends on need, not just that "more people would rather have.." |

You're a joke.
I love how ridiculous everyone thinks it is that two friends who just happen to be KIDS want to play together in the NHL. WOW, WHAT A CRAZY CONCEPT!
This whole scenario has be completely blown out of proportion and this kind of thing has been going on for ages!
Is anyone saying the same crap about Jordan Staal possibly wanting to go play with his older brother in Carolina?
What about the "inseparable" Sedin's?
How about Niewendyk and Roberts playing in Calgary and then in Toronto together. They're business partners for God's sake!
Carter and Richards?
Gretzky/Kurri/Huddy/McSorley on L.A.
I'm guessing that Brayden and Luke Schenn would love to play together...

It is fine and quite possibly likely that they want to play together. However, Schultz has absolutely no trade value for the Leafs. None. In no way will any team trade a valuable asset in the hopes that another player may sign as a Free agent. It is silly to think otherwise. |

Look man, nobody is saying they wouldn't enjoy playing together. But to try and saddle that with some sort of trade value for the Leafs is just stupid.
