Absolutely.

Snow deserves big criticism for moving on from Martinek, Hillen, Gervais, and not giving Wishart and Resse a spot from day one because that worked in the second half of 2010-11, but he also had a problem and that was slower Eaton, Mottau had contracts and all were coming back from injury plus they had Jurcina.

Wishart played 20 games here in the second half of 2010-11 and was plus five.

Snow made his worst choice as a gm in a terrible market for UFA defenders bringing in Staios and then putting him with Mark Streit which is a joke when you consider Staios was traded for former Islander Aaron Johnson a few years ago.

Teams started keying on Streit from opening night and were taking some big runs at him. The distance between the forwards and defenders were terrible in transition as Eaton, Mottau and those defenders could not skate the puck to the forwards or were pinned in (long passes meant icing) and absolutely could never get in position to sustain any kind of forecheck so there goes your five on five scoring or any sustained pressure.

This sunk Gordon before he was fired, they all got hurt, the team started winning but the problems returned with them last fall.

That plus Snow got unlucky with fair statistical games on Reasoner and Rolston but maybe that was about the defense too.

Bottom line, exit Staios, Jurcina, Eaton, Mottau, enter Donovan, deHaan, Reese and any skating defender with little offense/size and it's as good as any team in the East.

Snow made plenty of other horrible choices. Not signing/trading PA at the deadline, signing a losing coach in Capuano for another year, not addressing the problem with team toughness, constantly giving DP the green light to start over when it is so obviously "over", etc...

I actually can't disagree with any of that, defense wise. It's pretty spot on, but guys like Reasoner and Rolston were not dudes I wanted here. We actually did the Devils a huge favor making that trade because the Devils couldn't afford to give Parise the one year qualifying offer they ultimately could afford because of that trade, and then did.

If you keep holding your breath on guys like Bailey and Okposo and some of the others you mentioned earlier, then I don't know what to tell you. I obviously expect, and want (crazy enough), to see both of them in the top 9 this upcoming season, but this season is the last chance I hope to see, especially Bailey. Okposo, I tend to give more of a pass to because of the extent of injuries, and maybe his late season surge can be sustained.

But, being an Islanders fan, I'll believe all those hypotheticals when I actually see them happen.

I can't disagree with anything u said here... but I hold out a bit more hope than you do b/c of their age. Bailey and Ok are still very very very young.

That is aggressive.... with out a top pairing D-man added to the mix and a decent UFA forward, and a full time NHL goalie we are not "as good ".. sorry.

Nope...that's impossible around here now.
The problem with this guy is I actually threw him a bone, agreed (mostly) with his post, told him his post was pretty much spot on, and he still chose to tell me what an idiot I am. I choose to have a sense of humor about things and drop movie references, I know, I'm a HUGE detriment to this board, and a retard to boot. Should I be the guy who lectures everyone about how great things are in the Land of Oz and take every word written and analyze the poop out of it? Would I serve a bigger purpose shoving what I think is right down everyone's throats?

Very indicative of how politics is discussed in this country now, which is why I slowly lose interest in posting on any message boards anymore. It's the "I think I'm right mentality, and anyone who disagrees is an idiot who can suck it."

All I know is I usually go to bed at night with a smile on my face most nights, there are a few who I don't know if they can say the same. I try not to insult people, that's kinda my MO, but, then I'll just choose not to engage people in the future.
No loss from my point of view.

Personally.. I enjoy when people disagree with me... the argument passes the time at work. I also enjoy your posts so would rather u didn't stop posting. If anyone calls me an idiot or worse.... I don't let it bother me too much. (unless it is Downeaster who is my Arch enemy)..

Not even close. That's putting a lot of faith in kids that have little to no NHL experience, we know how that usually works out. I agree

That's what you choose to criticize Snow for? Not playing Wishart? F-ing Wishart? Wishart is garbage. And don't give me the garbage that "he was a plus-5 for 20 games" as "proof" that he's a solid player. He is no higher than 4th on the deoth chart in Bridgeport. Ness, Donovan and de Haan are all considered better than Wishart by the organization.
- Jethro09

Agree on the Wishart part 100%.... I think although I wanted Donovan up here the whole year in the long run a year in the AHL will benefit him so I give Snow the pass.

Add Katic to that list
- kindlyrick

I am OK with that... He was a good NHL player. The only shot he sees on being on the team is if we sign no one and everyone gets hurt. If that happens again I would rather play a Kid.

Oh.....you guys can't get rid of me that easily. I just choose not to engage people quick to talk down to others and shove their opinions (right or wrong) down my throat.

I'm a big boy, I can take criticism, trust me. Anyone who gets bent about a convo on a hockey rumor website...well, that's on them, not me. I could care less. I'm too old to care.

Dont be surprised if Katic makes the team this year. He's small but he's got great hands, and can skate. He's like a smaller version of AMAC

Were not for him seperating his shoulder in training camp, he would have seen the big club last year.
