Desjardins and Timonen weren't very good defensively? They weren't regularly matched up against top lines, and play top minutes on the PK? The fact that they also had two way ability and could play offensively in all situations, doesn't take away from how good they were defensively. Which proves my point that you don't have to be a physical player to be very good defensively.

I thought the topic was about defensive d-men. Guys like Desjardins and Kimmo aren't what I would classify as defensive d-men.

It's strange to me that not many people are getting behind this. It's not the flashiest of moves, but it makes the most sense and wouldn't break the bank like almost every other move we've been talking about.

Last summer, the Jets balked at trading Kane for Mike Richards. Despite the contract stuff, which several analysts, including Darren Dreger, have called garbage, he will be expensive to acquire

Not that I disagree but he is refusing to sign with them and to me his value almost comes down just so Winnipeg can move on. I don't expect them to give him away but I don't think they ask for the moon anymore.

wildest day as a Flyers fan in my lifetime when those trades went down last year

- Crimsoninja

My friend called me and said "Bro you might wanna take a look at NHL.com." I told him I was sitting in a convertable at a gas station in Sanibel Island.

And then he told me.

I flipped. "WHAT THE (frank) IS HOMER DOIN!!?"

Then I actually thought about it, and a half hour later, I realized that they were pretty good deals

Couldn't imagine what it was like here

The statement I made is that you don't have to be physical to play well defensively.

Fair enough. I'm fine with tweaks. In fact I prefer making tweaks and letting the kids mature
- Jsaquella

I'm almost willing to do this.

If they cannot get Weber or sign Suter for at least somewhat of a reasonable rate I would roll with it.

I dont think they will be good enough to win without another top guy but they cant screw over the next 5 years.

3 of the best defenseman who ever played for the Flyers, who were excellent defensively. Weren't defenseman that were considered physical defenseman. Howe, Desjardins, and Timonen

I agree. 30 goals as a 20 year old. That's pretty stout.

I thought we were talking about defensive d-men and how they are better if they bring a physical game.

What leverage does Kane have? Is he going to hold out and not play?

Dreger just said that report was garbage, that Kane is meeting with the Jets this weekend to discuss terms.

I booked off next weekend for Canada day weekend and am going camping to Hecla Island. Only way on is through a narrow road and many campsites have their own private beach.

Smokies, marshmellows, ice cold drinks and kayaking. Good times.

Can't answer that because I'm not him. Maybe he does sit out. If he is refusing to play for them and his agent has told Winnipeg this why would Winnipeg not want to move a disgruntled player?

I highly doubt that he sits out. That doesn't benefit anyone.

Like I said I'm not Kane and I don't live his everyday life. He may just not like being in Winnipeg.

except that we've lost or about to lose our 2 best dmen and there are no standouts in our lineup or in the pipeline. this is one case where I would prefer a bigger move.
