I thought correcting another's grammar and spelling was also against the Code of Conduct.

As in everything with life, I guess it depends on the severity and good judgement of our citizens.

After I posted it I felt bad about the correction. But when a guy is pounding his chest like King Kong and flauting the rules, he kind of engraved the invitation.

See, that was my thought too. It's not like the Flyers have 12 high end execs and no one else on the payroll. And some people low on the totem pole do "leak" (true or false) just to feel important.

That was a topic of discussion on Home Ice this morning. They were discussing how that deal laid the foundation for Colorado to win the Cup and also how not doing the deal allowed the Rangers to make moves that led to them winning the Cup.

proof that the "whoever got the best player won the deal" mantra isn't always right. sure, forsberg/lindros is a good debate, but even still.

Flyers related or NHL in general? I really cant see the Flyers making any moves before July 1st. I can see up moving up a few spots to grab Koekkoek, but that's about it.
- hereticpride

Flyers related. Homer has a tendency to make moves before selected dates: Draft, TDL and FA. He likes his main focus to already be on the team so he can tweak with lower tier guys without having to fight for that really good player. I think something is up and I want to stay on top of it without pissing off my wife every 3 seconds checking my phone. Ill just look for that notification on the top of my phone.

point is no matter what they are always in the playoffs and have a shot to win there is no way we can prove if its better to make a deal than not. if the flyers were to miss the playoffs 2 + yrs in a row we would all be screaming for trades. The grass us always greener on the other side.I trust that homer is not dumb enough to put this team in any situation that would cripple it. Point is that if it doesnt work out you can get back most of what you put in by trading him again. A guy like webber would probably command the same Ransom at age 27 that he would at age 34-35.
- Philly1980

Flyers were in the finals 2 years ago. It's not like they've missed the playoffs or been perennial one and done in the playoffs. There is a fine line between the last 4-8 teams alive each year. If you are one of them, you are keeping yourself in the hunt in a real way.

No worries, just playing. Sometimes my humor gets lost in a post. I guess there is a fine line between being funny and being an a-hole. Maybe in my case, not such a fine line!

Yeah, normally I'd agree about Homer's early moves but it truly seems like they are going hard after a big name free agent, hence why we havent seen Carle or Jagr or Jake re-up'd yet. I can definitely see them trying to move up in the draft though if someone good starts to fall. I just feel like theyre going to hang on to JVR and other peices until they know exactly what's going on with Suter.

Worst case scenario would be to trade JVR only to find out the Pred's are going to start listening to offers on Weber. Then that deal starts with Schenn.

Because you don't have the veteran offensive guys around anymore in Carter, Richards, and Leino.

Getting Weber will include JVR and probably Read or Schenn, even Coots. You're taking away two potential top 6 forwards, and you're going to replace them with whom? Shelley and Rinaldo?

Years ago, the Flyers thought they made a deal for a goaltender. A secretary even typed up (back when they did use typewriters) the paperwork and inadvertently leaked the info before the deal eventually fell through.

Stuff's been going on for years.

They can't re-up them because of tagging space. Jake got his offer and I feel Carle is a done deal, just can't be announced till the 1rst when the new cap is in place. So....is bill the best for the quickest updates?

The Pronger trade forced us to find ways to acquire youth that doesn't involve the draft. We were lucky to find a player like Read, but that isn't going to happen each year.

Making 2 Pronger-like trades, where you give up players+prospects+picks for 1 player, in a short time-span will eventually hurt you. You don't want to make trades like this on the regular.

Sure Weber will be the future of the team, but it doesn't negate the fact that you're giving up a potential star (in JVR or Schenn), first round draft picks (think Carter, Giroux, etc), and some other big pieces (Meszaros or Vorcacek) for 1 player. Even if Weber is more valuable than all players/picks combined, you're still swapping 3 commodities for 1, and that will leave you strapped. The big question is whether the Flyers prospects are ready to step in yet, and that has yet to be seen.

Actually your replacing one player (forward) points wise. Weber had 19 goals and 49 points. We keep forgetting to add his stats to the trade.

isn't that for tagging space reasons?
