That the Flyers were after Weber, and that Homer is trying to up the price for Nash b/c Boston and NYR are going hard after him.

No way.

- LordStanley88

The Rangers will still hang around because they play well defensively and have Lundqvist.

We have been talking about Weber here way before your "source" said anything. It was a pretty common topic around here, and that day about Nash was just a result of something on the news the night before.

Don't pat yourself on the back because you think Bill vindacated you. I was talking about Weber 6 months ago. So really....

There are about 29 other teams talking about freakin Weber... and probably 10 who wanna jack the price of Nash up.

yes but it would purely speculation rather than fact based
- Crimsoninja

Absolutely it would be. I have zero facts concerning the off season strategy concerning the Flyers. My speculation is based on the loss of Pronger and the need to replace him.

until you have inside information like LS88, everything said here is jargon, rhetoric, hearsay and smokescreens

might as well be posting Capgeek rosters

I would call it speculation, and part of the fun of talking off season player moves. And Capgeek is an important tool to use to see if roster speculation can work Cap wise. Even if I did have inside information, which I don't. I wouldn't be posting it on here.

I agree totally with all of that, except for Weber being a step sideways. I don't agree with that at all. Adding that kind of player on the backend is big giant step forward.
- MJL

It's a giant step forward if they can add him in a vaccuum w/o opening holes elsewhere now in the future. From the look of things, it's going to cost a king's ransom...

The Flyers have been making these giant step forward kind of deals and signings since as long as any of us can remember... when has it really worked out? It took them years to recover from the Lindros trade, then they subsequently sold the farm and then some for Gratton, then went big after Pronger (fall-out yet to be known).... this kind of thing can only go on for so long, especially when they've had miserable luck at the draft outside of the 1st-round.

Are we not good enough for your "possible" inside information?

Lets say you did have inside information... And you did post it on here... Even if it was obvious, would you not at least state why it was a valid source... Like "he works with the Flyers, or my sister is sleeping with JVR." You know?

Not that I disagree but even after all those trades the Flyers are still competitive and compete almost every year for a chance to win the Cup. I do understand what your are saying though. Flyers take risks and when they dont work out they still have the flexibility to acquire other players through trades, picks, or UFA. This team always spends to the cap so I dont see an issue with taking either road (that being trading player or standing pat).

In my opinion you have to look at how hard the holes are to fill. And in my opinion that #1 Defenseman is a harder hole to fill then a scoring line Winger. So if the move is available, then I have to make it. The Flyers have added a bunch of Goalie over the years, in various moves. How has it worked out. Does that mean that they shouldn't have gone out and gotten a Goalie. Just because it hasn't worked in the past, doesn't mean you should stop trying.

I get what you're saying but honestly JVR, Jake and (presumably) a late round 1st for the best defenseman in the league just entering his prime is a pretty fair deal.

It is the silly season. I will remind posters that if it is not from a legitimate media source to whom you can link (and who is not on a competing site--one with forums) a rumor should not be brought up here. There are enough "real" (that's a concept) rumors out there that we don't need (or want) what your dog whispered to you this morning.

Thank you.
