Once Justin Schultz becomes an unrestricted free agent July 1, expect the line to be very long for his services and the competition for them to be heated. "The competition for Schultz will be every bit as intense as the competition for Suter and Parise," analyst Ray Ferraro said on TSN radio in Canada. "This kid has the potential to step in and play next year and to be a top 4 guy next year." Of course, this only happens if the Ducks can't sign him before then, but that's not expected to happen. Teams interested in the Wisconsin defenseman include the Canucks, Oilers, Rangers, Maple Leafs and Red Wings.

Yep. He's not Matt Gilroy. He was a 2nd round pick and has a lot of potential. He could probably step in right now and do a good job for a NHL team. |

I do like that Holmgren is aggressive and tries to win, but sometimes, I think that they try to hard, rather than just remain patient.
I really like the team they have, in a couple years, they could be a terrifying team for opposing teams to face. - Jsaquella
I agree -- but they could really use a couple Defensemen. |

Add guys that won't shred the foundation they're building. Then like LA, make the bold moves when you're at the cusp. I'm not against a big move now, but don't get nuts of add a vet that won't be a key piece in three years.
That's why I'm ultimately OK with Weber. In 3 years, he's only 30. |

Pavelec is pending RFA with a big $ offer from KHL. It will take $4mil\multi years to keep him in NHL. Pay or trade him...Jets only options.

Please explain the differences. They seem like utility guys to me. Not being a smart A, I just thought they added similar skills. A guy like Moore would be ideal to me. - aosplayo
Moore is a checking line player, and a role player. Wellwood is a player that plays on the PP and is a scoring line player. Moore has some physical attributes to him. Wellwood is not at all a physical player. |

If I had my pick.. id go Moore. He is a pain in the ass to play against.
I keep thinking about that 3.3mil or whatever for Jagr...
Id almost rather see them sign a vet 3rd/4th liner who is a heart and soul Talbot/Lappy like player. |

I think this all depends on what Homer can pull off before or during the draft. If they end up trading for Weber, it will almost have to be before the draft, or at least before July 1 so the Flyers can address the holes left from trading forwards.
IMO if you trade for Weber then you will need to resign Jagr, and also a checking line winger. Then you can resign Carle if the cap hit is reasonable. Then you can trade Meszaros to one of the teams losing out on Suter to replace another one of those young wingers. |

Yeah but I heard the asking price was JVR, Voracek, Bourdon, and 2 first rounders....I'd do the deal, but without Voracek. |
