ya know listening to Julie for the 16th TRILLION time about LAST SEASON'S Vermont Catatonics, I realize now that, listening to her and seeing her, she's a real LIFE version of Miss Piggy. That's just wrong........

Boston needs defense and a potential backup. Maybe they take Smid+, but that plus is still pretty big.

And leaves a bad D even worse.

I love how all the little trolls keep going on about how Gagner isn't worth the 8th pick straight across. I certainly hope its not, no way do i feel like this is a good trade for the oilers.
- ALEDDO

Just because no one other than Oiler's fans (and a lot of them disagree) think he's worth that much doesn't make them trolls. If you can get an 8th for him, awesome, do it. I just don't think anyone would pay that.

Let me get this straight Richard, you're of the opinion that even if Carolina is willing to trade a top 10 pick for Gagner (what??) the Oilers would hold off on that deal? Is it just me or is that absolutely insane?

jbo would fit well in edmonton because he could actually use his skating ability. And eat up alot of minutes for you.

Like you said the issue with him is his salary. Otherwise he's a good player (but not in sutters system....so if he's the coach, forget it)

As crappy as Horcoffs contract is, and his age. Flames need a 3rd/4th line centre that can win a faceoff. But unless they have some youth coming with him (jones or teubert would both have spots) not sure what the trade would be. And I can't see them moving Jbo unless they have a top 4 D set up coming from UFA. a 25+ minute player that hasn't missed a game is a big loss.

Calgary apparently really wants their second back

so Jbo/neminsz/karlsson for Teubert/Jones/Horcoff/2nd

so anyone who disagrees is a troll? i've said it before on this site, but if some individuals didn't come in with a non homer opinion sometimes, than the site would just be a big oiler circlejerk

Any truth to the rumor (if you've heard them) about EDM and CLB trade possibility? I think it was,

EDM: Gagner, Paajarvi, Omark, Horcoff, mid level d prospect <-> 2nd overall (or Nash)

This is in the Ek main thread... Now I would do it for Nash and the 2nd overall...

Risky for sure. I would have no problem with him being our 2nd line center. We haven't seen the best of Gagner yet IMO.

I just dont think there will be a decent prospect left, not to say the ones that are left are bad just all the ones we will have wanted will surely be gone.

no, anyone who trolls is a troll. to say gagner isnt worth an 8th straight up is just stupid, there will be no prospect left available who will turn out as good as gagner

Hey man, like any rumour I'll believe when I see it, but I'm not going to denounce it just because it's a little higher than I'd expect the pick to be.
- Morris

I'm a bit different, if something is obviously way overdone, i.e. the pens blog rumor of the 8th, faulk, sutter for staal, martin, I am going to denounce it... speaking of which.....

Trying to predict what's going to happen is like trying to predict the weather in Alberta.

If Katz has told Oilers management the team must be better next season, the only way moving Gagner makes sense is if the Oilers either sign a quality UFA or trade for an established center who is better than Gagner. Dealing Gagner for Grigorenko, Galchenyuk, Faksa or whoever else they could draft with the pick may, but likely won't, make the team better in 2012/2013.

Outside of Ryan Murray who is apparently NHL-ready, no D men the Oilers can draft will be able to improve the team immediately either. If you've been watching the UFA list, it's shrinking, and there are very few good options on it for the Oilers to sign.

It might be in the Oilers best interests...if the goal is to improve next season...is to just draft Yakupov, and make absolutely no deals at the draft (other than getting rid of dead wood). Signing Justin Schultz would help next season (maybe), and finding a decent D man would help too. Moving established players like Gagner and Hemsky for picks will move the Oilers down the win column next season, not up it.

I'll take the odds that the 8th could turn out to be a more consistantly better player than gagner anytime

Just so you know, the team use to be called The Baby Oilers, but the name was changed because it made what fans of the team do a little too obvious.

Trouba or Reilly or Dumba should be there. All good D prospects.
