Who would fill Gagners spot if we traded him for the 8th and drafted Reinhart?

Cue the "move Taylor Hall to center" comments.

You'd hope they make a play for someone else. Either via trade or Free agency.

That is the issue though, who would trade Gagner for Grigorenko straight up? Not the Canes, they are a budget team and would relish the $$ saving for the equal if not better player.
- psoneill

They're a team that needs revenue.

Gagner will be a much more important player for 2 years for the canes. Which could result in them making the playoffs.

Its not like Gagner is a chump either, he's still a baby and looks like he is going to be a constant 60-65 point player. And he's not due for a massive raise on his current contract anyway...

A top 10 pick for Gagner? Come on. I think the best they could do is a bottom 15 pick, even then who knows.

The time spent teaching hall to play centre would be better spent teaching the kid to score on a breakaway once in awhile. Then he would get like 70 goals a season.

I'm not shocked, but why did they waste 10 weeks on this (frank)ing thing? Such a waste of money.

I don't think Eberle to center is that far fetched. He's a real smart player and would probably be the best candidate for a position change.

Agreed...this should never have been an issue for congress, and thus, no need for this trial. Governments that spend absurd amounts of taxpayer money to investigate and create policy strictly based on professional sport should be ashamed of themselves.

Oh I am not either... It seems the more money and lawyers you have the better... All the time people spent on this poop... and it 10 years it will be an OJ think where he admits he did it... after the fact and off the record of course... (frank)ing BS... But baseball is such a poorly run sport anyway... Selig was such a dippoop...

Hall at centre would be a disaster.

The guy is as dumb as a doorknob. That's too much responsibility for his brain size.

Canes are one of the smallest teams in the league. I don't think they are passing on a big, playmaking Center with ppg potential for a small Center with 65 point upside who will make 3-5 times more over the next 3 years.

And how'd he look doing it? Not (frank)ing good.
- Lahey

Well he was on the ice for just over a goal a game (every 19:21 seconds - he played 19:34 a game). The Oilers allowed 2.83 goals a game, meaning he was on the ice for about 36% of the goals (he plays just under a third of the game, so just under a third of Team GA) should be the "zero point". He's 0.03 below that.

That isn't really a damning statistic though, considering he had probably the hardest forward assignment in the league, and more importantly no one else on the team had nearly as hard an assignment. I think he gets a super bad rap.

Heres a quote about Eberle from hockeysfuture.com

2008-09: The Regina Pats center tallied 35 goals and 74 points through 61 games this season, his second best total with the WHL club. He once again saw international action, tallying six goals and 13 points in six games at the WJC; Team Canada took home gold and Eberle was once again named a Top 3 Player on the Team. He also saw action with the Springfield Flacons (AHL), his first look at professional hockey. In nine games with Edmonton’s AHL affiliate, the center potted six goals and nine points. Expect to see him with Regina next season, but don’t be surprised if he gets another look at the AHL and his first bit of ice-time with the Oilers.

It was Sutter, Faulk, 8th for Staal and Martin.
