Tangradi has no value. - Gunner Staal
But Falk does. If they could flip him for murray and Clowe I'd start to rethink my position on the staal trade. However not knowing Shero's intent after the initial trade I'd still prefer Jordy. I can't understand why no one believes this kid will sign here. I haven't heard anything from him other than he loves it here. I also know he enjoys winning. Playing with his brother could be enticing but that is always speculation when brothers are in any league at the same time. Staal is a force and at 23 he is a few years away from his prime. We get sutter and Falk and watch Jordy start hanging 75-85 pts a year well playing well defensively. This could be one of those ones we look back on in 5 years and go ouch wtf where we thinking. |

Reported that Radulov is heading back to the KHL... What a joke. - PensMalkin71
He uses the possible "work stoppage" as his excuse. Maybe he got freightened that not too many people would offer him big money. After all, with this clown, you have some baggage. If he doesn't like it, he bolts back to Russia and to hell with his contract. Also, getting suspended for violation of team rules in the freakin play-offs?
Not a shocker to me.

Relax big guy ... I think your ideas are far fetched ... you lower the value of Staal, but your other deals are Cloutier like. It wouldn't be fair to bust his balls and not your's right?

Yeah but you cant make trades with the assumption that the players involved will be utilized in a secondary trade. |

So, having been following the convo on Staal, is the consensus that the issues with him staying are more related to $$ or role with the team? |

To be honest I have no idea. I would think role with the team is a bigger factor because the Penguins would be dumb to let him go for $ reasons, IMO. |

I don't think there have been any issues listed. I think it's all speculation. No one has said anything negative from either camp. People always fall in love with what could be but the grass isn't always greener. |

That's why I said but not being able to know what happens after the initial trade I'd prefer to keep 11. |

It would seem the $$(if it were an issue) could be resolved by moving some other salaries that clearly arent worth keeping as much as Staal is worth keeping even if he wanted more money than Neal signed for.
If the issue is his role, then id guess he wouldnt sign this offseason without assurances he was to be given more top 6 time and or he would wait until midseason to resign once he sees how his role is playing out.
If $ isnt the issue(in other words Shero is willing to go to 6mil or more) , Im suprised nobody has brought up the possibility of trying to flip him with NJ for Parise who would get a top 6 role as a winger on Crobsy or Malkin's line and thereby give NJ a center for Kovalchuk. Trades within divisions are albeit rare, but this might be a case where both teams would make out by getting players into better situations. |

but staal wont be able to hit 75-85 points a year as the 3rd line center, with limited PP time, and used as a shutdown role. On carolina, staal easily becomes the 2nd line center with much more PP time and is a given better wingers on a scoring line |
