You think it's a reach to think that if Weber becomes available, the Flyers will be involved in trying to acquire him?

We will give up a lot to get him, but he could be a big piece we have been missing. I'm happy with them just adding a couple players to this roster already. I pray Cooter is going anywhere. He has soooooo much potential. See what they want for Weber. If they ask for cooter, then say thanks anyways. Add a Garrison and a burish. resign Jagr, carle and voreck and start the camp.

I'm not against getting Weber, just hope it makes sense overall.

Weber would definitely be a huge piece to the puzzle, but they still need improved two way play from the forwards and better play from the defensemen when Weber's not on the ice. One guy can only do so much.

I think he just won't be convinced unless you have a "source" of your own. The more secret and nebulous the source, the better. Only then will you be a hockeyy insiderr.

The Flyers are always just one Briere, Bryzgalov, Pronger, Weber, Suter, Parise, Nash, Bouwmeester, Kovalchuk, Stamkos away from winning the Stanley Cup...

What farm system? What salary cap?

- Tomahawk

Well, there's Nick Cousins and...uh, er...

NJ is 6M in the hole in operating income. How did they afford Kovalchuk?
- MJL

I would assume he is part of the reason they are $6m in the hole.

And how can they possibly afford Parise?

I hope if the the Flyers do get Weber, that the contract doesn't exceed 6 years. I don't think anyone's contract should ever exceed 6 years. That's an awfully long time for such a physical player.

What would you give up for Weber? I'm thinking JVR, Reader, Bourdon and 1 first round????

It basically makes sense if Coots and Giroux are not included in the deal....the rumored trade makes sense for me

I find it slightly troublesome that the Flyers operating income is just north of 3 million. Whereas by comparison the Rangers are at 40 plus million.

Since these calcs. say they were done @ 11/11 I imagine both teams are quite a bit higher after the Winter Classic and the playoffs. Also, they were probably done using prior year numbers. Doubt the league gives Forbes a montly income statement.

They should make a push for Erik Johnson. 6'4, 230. Right handed. Solid two way defenseman that can skate and shoot, and a RFA next year. Wouldn't have to give an arm and a leg and would probably be cheaper than Weber.

Not a bad idea, if Weber doesn't happen.

I don't see how you could pass it up. Your getting a Star level player. You lock him up long term, and barring any kind of freak long term injury, you have your lead dog on the back end long term. You have to do it.
- MJL

No doubt about it. Build around your goalie and defense first. You can find forwards who can produce. Defenseman are much harder to find and one on Weber's level is almost impossible to find.

Jaromir Jagr enjoyed Phildadelphia, but plans on testing free agency. Also plans to change training to shed some lbs and get faster.

Just hope they stay away from Nash and J-bo. They are good players, but I don't think I would want them in O & B. Cap hit, yikes. But, we need good dman and maybe another scoring winger to play with G. See what's up for weber. Kick tires with Parise. If tall too much, just let us be underdogs with low key signings. Lavy will wind a way.

I bet Flyers have told him to test it. They are gonna kick the tires with Parise and if it doesn't work out, bring him back.
