You don't have to worry about that as there are no 1st line forward on the UFA market except Parise.
- Pecafan Fan

Agreed and it would be porbably redundant for the Habs to look for one just yet. At least until they rid themelves of that Gomez contract.

Not every Dman can be an offensive juggernaught. But you ask around the playoff who is often the most valuable units on a successful team and its almost always the nice, reliable two way guys on the back end who can make that first pass, and can play 26 minutes a night, and can get down and block shots and can shut down the other teams top guys. You never win if you don't have these guys regardless of how many fancy forwards you have at your disposal.

Murray will be taken #2 IMO anyway so its probably a moot point. Habs will end up with Galchenyuk or Forsberg an in no way is that a bad thing either. Unless something drastic happens they will likely pick in the top #10 again and can shore up whatever holes they feel they have in terms of prospect depth at that time.

Apparently Joel Bouchard's arena in Boisbriand is in big financial trouble. The construction costs ended up double the 15 millions estimate and despite a 7 millions grant from the provincial gov. and they are asking the town of Boisbriand to take control of the arena and it's debts.

Yeah, Blainville don't mind investing more, but not Boisbriand.

Joël Bouchard is simply wearing too many hats in this thing. He needs to find someone to delegate.

I think they don't mind investing a little, but not take control of the arena. Once you get syndicated workers in there the operation costs goes up and maintenance goes down

Obviously.

But Blainville could use another arena. The number of hockey players in the area is just completely ridiculous.

Cities don't wanna build arenas anymore. The new trend is giving a lot to a private contractor who will build and operate the arena. The city then buys a guarenteed number of hours every year.

It makes budgetting much easier. Too often a building project will cost alot more than estimated and the city has to find a way to refinance the arena.

That's what they are doing here. Private arena, 3 ice, 2300 hours rented every year for the next 5 years.

It's what I'm saying. They need the complexe in Boisbriand. They have to find a way to put a little more money into it, but someone else to manage it. Bouchard is just too involved with too many things right now. They need to find someone to operate this place, kinda like Quebecor in Quebec, but on a smaller scale.

Well, that would go against the purpose of the post, which was to bash Timmins.

New arena built here was just like that.

It's stupid though because somehow the beer leagues have less Ice time than they used to have before its building.

And the costs to rent an hour of ice in those kind of buildings are really mindboggling, crazy prices. So the city increased their fee too.
