So if Gardiner is worth more than a 1st overall and that Malkin was drafted 2nd, would Malkin and a 1st be enough?

How did you base your opinion though? On scouts reports you read and on the few games televised.

There are a bunch of scouts who follow the trend paved by a lot of GM's who are scared to draft russians. They devalue players based on that. Evgeny Kuznetzov was drafted 26th overall by the caps, and he's a top5 talent.

Tarasenko was drafted 16th overall, and he was a top5 talent.

Again this year, Slepyshev should be in the same discussion as Forsberg, Collberg, Teravainen, Gaunce and Faksa.

Oh yeah. Good times. I threw it back in the other day and played Horde with the boy. The only down fall was that he didn't talk to Anya like she was in the room with us.

I always though Malkin was being traded to Montreal for Ryder, Halak and a 2nd.

know nothing about klefbom but Beulieu being dealt would cause rioting. More likely we are dumb enough to trade away ANOTHER monster on the blueline
- muffin_man

Klefbom was a 1st rounder last year, 19th overall if I'm not mistaken.

Big Swede D, that plays a safe game, but who still provides pretty good offensive contribution.

Why would it cause riots to trade Beaulieu? Because he has a french name?

It would take a pretty (frank)ing good offer to trade Subban. And Beaulieu is 'expandable' given that we have Subban ready, and other notables like Dietz, Bennett who could produce later on.

I trade Beaulieu before trading Subban. Even then I don't think Yakupov or Murray are good enough to trade Beaulieu.

Nope, throw in Staal and TO throws in Lashoff to even things out. After all, he was a 1st rounder.

I've had my share of perma-burning big after spending months fighting his stupid ass about Price VS Halak. You should've been here the day they traded Halak.
- PRICEless

That was amazing and I fondly remember it. It's funny that he loves Eller now.

Was one of the first few months I was around, and we had nightly debates me and BIG

I was on the Halak train, but understood why they'd keep Price. Still too soon to judge, the jury's still out.

- _nay_

Halak is a pretty good goalie, but he can't play more than 55 games a year.

Price can play 70+ games a year, and still be one of the best in the league.

We saw it during the 2010 playoffs. Halak was toast in the 3rd round, and frankly sucked.

Halak is good for a short stretch but gets tired more easily than Price. He was apparently losing more than 10 pounds a game.
