I'm on the bandwagon because Montreal is rarely in a position to draft a centre with that kind of skill. His knee is a question mark, but lots of 1st round prospects had injuries this past season.
- mcmanmat

I wonder if he's so popular because so many of the other top guys have warts? The fact he didn't play seems to be working in his favour.

Yes, exactly. Picking 3rd should give them that chance, I'm not sure it does this year.
- habby

Meh, even if the player the Habs draft doesn't end up being the best of his class... All I want is for them to draft a very useful player for years to come.

If it's Murray, I'd be fine with it.

He also scored the best at the combine, his knee is back 100%...unlike markov

As much as Murray.

I'm not saying Galynuchuk(sp?) isn't the guy they should take. I'm saying it's not a slam dunk.

Most players (except Markov) get over knee injuries these days.

EDIT: Damn Symba!!

Random thought #2 : The fact that Grigorenko is 29 years old is scaring a lot of teams. He may not be top 10 now

The fact he didn't play last year is the reason I'm scared of drafting him.

If Grigorenko didn't play last year... he would still be considered #2?

Maybe he can share the name of his surgeon with Markov after Markov's knee shatters again.

I saw him once and his leg didn't fall off. He was ok, but the big deal was that he played at all.

i think his popularity stems from the fact that he's a big point-producing centre and he's not Russian. (not REALLY Russian)

Of course it's not a slam dunk. I'm suggesting that considering the organization needs (top-6 talent, minor league depth, etc), that he really should be the guy they lean towards as "plan A".

The patience of building players via the Bulldogs is just starting to pay dividends. The Habs are going to be contenders in the east for years to come. Very similar to how the Red Wings have built their organization.
