I'd take Galchenyuk, but the Habs would probably take Murray.

Surely someone in the braintrust will stand up and say "Listen you dumb (frank)s. This team hasn't had a legit #1 centre in 20 years. If you draft Murray, I'm going to tea-bag each and every one of you in your sleep."

Kuznetsov just turned 20, signed for 2 years so he could play in Sochi in case the NHL boycotts it. Tarasenko is coming over, and these are just the guys drafted out of Russia and not playing in NA. I think we'll see a trend of more and more of the top Russians trying to go to the CHL to help their draft status and show commitment.

Thing is, would you have fell in love with a 22 year old Emelin who sucked at the time? Or would you have rather waited until he was 26 and fully developed so the fan base didn't run him off.

I guess I'd feel safer knowing how he's developing in our farm team than in Russia... even if the result might be the same.

This being said, I agree with the first part of your post and believe it will help kill the whole "russian factor".

Meh. It's time to draft the centre. If it flops, at least they tried to fill a glaring need.

Savard was also a centre.

Yes, in 1980 they picked the wrong one. Not really the same thing as deciding between a centre and a D-man this year though.

Take the best player, if it's a centre so be it.

Fair point. I'm simply suggesting that if the talent level is considered about equal, then they should take the centre. If they don't draft the "franchise" centre, where exactly the (frank) do they think they're going to find one? Time has proven that big-name talent doesn't exactly flock to Montreal.

i think it needs to be a forward. there are just no impact forwards coming through as the depth chart stands now. Gallagher and Bournival should not be an organization's top forward prospects.
