TRADE THE PICK FOR A PLAYER WHO CAN CONTRIBUTE NOW!!!!
PK Subban perhaps? - kindlyrick
we have talked about that in the past... I would not be upset to see this pick moved for a player like PK.. but I think it would take a prospect too.. at least. |

I am sure no matter who we pick all the Debbie Downers will hate it.. I am just hoping we don't trade down. This draft is very top heavy and we have a top 4 pick. Wether we pick a forward or a D-man at 4 we should be fine. As myself and Scli has talked about in the past... I would then love to see them use some other picks to move up for a later pick in the first round to grab one of these Big D-men that will take some time to develop. There are a bunch. - niteislander
I agree, wouldn't mind it at all. Either that or trade the pick for a legit, hitting, dman if there is a trade to be had? |

The problem with your Debbie Downer logic is we have 18 million we HAVE to spend to get to the cap floor. somehow I don't think Pando and Staois are going to get 9 mill each... I could be wrong though. - niteislander
The problem with this is what happened last year, how about the year before? We have had to reach the floor the last couple years and this "cap space" was wasted on garbage. These rumors of Tim Thomas being signed or some other player that's not actually going to play are worrisome. If Snow actually spends this money on legit NHL players who are capable of contributing then this team could be a decent team. The other side of this is if he doesn't and does what he's done in the past we WILL be picking in the top five again next year. I have a hard time assuming he is going to do the right thing suddenly this year with his track record. If he does, awesome but if i were a betting man... |

Moving up some how would be great.
It would be nice to have 2 of the top defenceman in the draft.
Any combo of Murray, Dumba, Trouba, Reinhart, or Rielly.
You would need two top 10 picks.
The only way your doing that is parlaying the 4th and 34th pick into the equation.

My guess... We keep the pick and draft one of the guys on everyone's short list.
We don't get Suter.. but get one of the other UFA's.. .like always the second group (not Redden.. but Streit...etc.). We then make a trade where we give up nada and take a player from a team with Cap issues... (funny feeling we get Komi b/c toronto hates him.. and they will probably give us a pick for taking him.. our 7th for Komi and a 4th or some sht.. ). We will probably sign another UFA forward for too much to take PA's place.. someone we don't really want but has a name so will make a splash. (Semin anyone?). |

Like BD I think we are going forward with our #1.. so these guys would all be gone by the time we pick next.. even if we manage to move up into later first round... but we could get a guy like Ceci, Skeji, Maata, etc. |

Why pick another goalie...isn't Poulin and Neilsen enough? - kear20
Neilsen is our second or 3rd line center... Nillson is our goalie prospect who looks very much like the real deal. .. as does Poulin. |

That's right...not going to happen though... unless they trade Neilsen or Poulin as part of a package for a top 4 defenseman or top 6 forward... |

Yes We sat back when the Rangers gave Redden 6 mill a year forever. We sat back when Toronto "stole" our hero Jason Blake for over 5 mill a year forever. We sat back while Gomez got a zillion dollars, and Drury got a zillion dollars, etc. etc. sometimes sitting back is the right thing to do ..

You can't have too many goalie prospects in the fold. It Clearly is the most important position on the ice... clearly. Between Nillson, Poulin, Koskinen, etc.... one of these will be the franchise goaltender we Desperately need. |
