No one is saying he will have any kind of impact... but to say a 24 y/o kid with his size & talent sucks.. is.. well ignorant.

Yeah, I don't think you can close the book on him as a player. With that kind of frame, on a team this small, he's certainly worth another look. I will say Ullstrom showed me more in his very limited playing time wrt using his size to his advantage and getting shots on net from in close. Joensuu didn't do that nearly enough, but you'd have to imagine that's a conversation that is taking place as he prepares to come back for one last chance to prove himself. If he plays to his size, he could be a handful for defenders. I don't expect miracles. Forget about the points...if he can just use his size and strength to keep the puck deep in the zone, freeing up some space for the smaller skill players, that'd be a dimension this team lacks right now.

Ultimately, I don't think this move is worth too much analysis right now. He's another player in the mix...it's really no different than if he hadn't gone to Europe, played in BPort this past season, and was coming to camp again this year. This shouldn't be the only, or even a major, move of the offseason, but it could pay off if, for once, things break the Isles' way.

Ok dude.. when I come across the ledge you are ready to jump from, you can beat me at that game.. till then a little reading comprehension would help you out alot.

Thanks again, I know how you meant it. You like playing games. It's what you do. You can say whatever you want. When this team is picking third in next years draft you'll still be sitting here spewing this nonsense and there might even be someone listening? You think JJ is going to kick ass this year than all the power to you.

Exactly we didnt add a top 6 forward for this season... we added a prospect that one day could fill a hole on this team.

Cant wait for Draft Day and the opening of the UFA market. Maybe then we can all get back on the same page, stop fighting with each other and go back to being friends again.

In the last thread, I mentioned Hjalmarsson as a trade possibility based on the rumblings the Hawk's blogger said he has heard. If he's indeed being shopped for sake of cap relief so they can chase a bigger fish, the Isles certainly have some cheap assets they could move for him, and he'd certainly be a better stay-at-home d-man option than our in-house choices. He might make a good d-partner for Streit, and he's still only 25.

Let me see if i can clear up any confusion...

Listen you are metaphorically standing on a ledge..... you can not be realistically pushed from a metaphoric ledge.. it is not a threat.. its a figure of speech

If you were really standing on a ledge & i said ill push you.. that my friend is a threat

unless you are standing on a bridge, or a ledge.. let it go

If anyone things that JJ is actually a great player they need to get there heads examined. The only reason why he can make this team is because no other NHL team would take him. He is big true but does not use that to his ability. I see him maybe just maybe scoring 5 goals. If you ask me his chance to be a NHL player has passed. The Islanders tried him here a few times and well he did not impress anyone except for Wang and Snow cause he is cheap. We got to fill the gaps some how.

You see here is the issue.... I started this big pissing match. At no time did I call him a "great player" or a "Human Wrecking ball". What I said is I was upset to see him go to Europe b/c he was getting better each year. He would always come up and play well for a game or 2... HIT PEOPLE, Score, crash the net, etc. Then he would disappear.... His last year was his best IMO. I thought he would be "hungry" b/c he would understand that this was his last shot.. .LAST YEAR. Instead of having him on our (and this is important) 4th LINE.. with Haley etc. we ended up with Pando, and Wallace... that was my point. Never did I see him on a line with JT.

Everything is not as Black and White as u guys put it... guys are not superstars or frackin suk... there are lots and lots of Grey in there..

What I really did not want with JJ is someone else being able to give him one last shot b/c of his showing in the worlds... At the very least the Isles get one more look at OUR draft pick.
