yes, the Tampa trade benefits Toronto, every move benefits Toronto...the Leafs will be stacked next year, bank on it. Burke is going to finally come through...um, yes, for sure, a flaccid fan base keeps eating whatever is in front of it, how loyal.

I think Armstrong would actually be a pretty good fit for the canucks, some grit and scoring for the third line if he can stay healthy. He's able to play with high end players too. If Armstrong is one of the pieces, Van could do worse.

and neither are as good, or will ever be as good as bernier.

that's kind've how things work. if you want to improve an area.. you have to give up something typically.

it's not rocket science.

Luongo will be the Leafs goalie..... It's an obvious trade

I'm sure pretty much everyone in the world would agree that Bernier has the better potential out of the bunch.

don't be a drama queen.

no one is trading the 2nd overall draft pick, or a blue chip prospect for bernier..

there's obviously a sense of realism required here..

- joel878

someone suggested Scrivens for Bernier.

When Rask was traded, he wasn't the blue chip prospect Pogge was.

People need to stop giving so much crap to Reimer. Man the goaltending position really is the what have you done for me lately position.

The kid was still pretty much a rookie this year and he suffered a serious concussion right out of the gates which hindered him all season long as proof of this was his early shut down at the end of the year.

Veteran goalies like Ryan Miller played like $hit for most of the year after a concussion cause it screws with your confidence like nothing else. If a veteran like Miller can get shaken by a concussion than surely to god you can cut a rookie some slack?

If he $hits the bed being healthy with no issues, than piss on him but saying you'd rather give up scrivens over him is retarded. Reimer proved himself in the NHL. Scrivens proved himself in the AHL. BIG DIFFERENCE

Not that I don't like Scrivens. Let's just keep things in perspective here leaf fans. Jesus christ

they've both barely scratched the surface in the nhl, of course there's not necessarily one of the two that's way better.

but anyone who doesn't see that bernier has the potential to be a starter that wins championships, and scrivens potential outside of the ahl seems limited.. is on glue.

- joel878

ill agree with you on bernier but not scrivens.. ahl is not an easy league to dominate

okay, so....

1) We are signing schultz

2) We are trading for one of bernier or luongo

3) We will most likely trade up to acquire the second, if we dont i would trade our 1st to the islanders for strome.

dont think we need Bernier, dont think he will be any better then Scrivens or Reimer, its just a crap shoot between those 3...even though Bernier is a higher draft pick. Luongo maybe but i dont see Burke giving anything up for him and i dont see Gillis giving him up for nothing. Signing Schultz would be wonderful and add another blue chip prospect. I dont think trading our 1st for Strome would be a good choice, we want some size in our lineup with skill and Grigorenko Forsberg and Gally fill our needs better then Strome.

it's a panic trade about 3-4 years to early for the leafs. by the time the leafs are competing for a championship, can't finish lou will be heading for the glue factory. and he only takes up 6 mil in cap space a season until then.

absoloutely senseless.

No I dea why the islanders would do that. They would end up with a player at 5 who has about the same talent level as Strome, but is a year behind.

wasn't the verdict on reimer from the leafs brass that he didn't have a concussion? whiplash effects?

they we're in denial about that most of the season...

If this franchise is serious about rebuilding and putting an end to the band aid fixes than they will see what they have in Reimer and Scrivens. Adding Bernier just adds a 3rd question mark to the mix with a slightly higher odds of success due to his talent projection.

I'd only acquire Luongo if its for dirt cheap. If not. Go with what you have.

scrivens would be far from the first goaltender to "dominate" the ahl. yann denis is the latest. people over estimate how the levels translate.
