nobody is banking on him for anything more than being a legitimate back-up who may still have starter potential.
but he and reimer are adequate without giving away more youth/picks/prospects to attain yet another unproven commodity.

- Barx

you're assuming what his price will be.

i get it.. the lindback thing is a comparable. but no one knows what exactly he would be traded for, so getting all hyper about presumptions doesn't mean much.

on that note.. bernier will probably be better than anyone we draft in the second round, as far as i'm concerned.

Twas a joke my good man! all in good fun. im pulling for the leafs this year. I think they make it, but by the skin of their teeth, and then surprise everyone and make it to the second round. Book it.

i just dont want luongo (frank)
- Nastradamus

The Leafs really needs a goaltender that chokes under pressure.

If Luongo can't handle the pressure in Vancouver, WTF is he going to do in Toronto?

like I said, if he can be had for cheap, sure...but that is simply not realistic, what sense does that make for the Kings?
if lindback can get you two 2nds and a 3rd, Bernier will garner more.

- Barx

i don't mind giving up that kind of package for bernier.. we have enough middle tier prospects and talent.

it's the high end picks and talent we need to maintain..

you are also assuming what his price will be....at least my assumption is based on what you referred to as 'realism'.
no way in hell does bernier ONLY get a 2nd rounder back

.. never said bernier was only getting a 2nd rounder.

i'm going off your basis with the lindback comparison that giving away 2nd rounders is murder. the 2nd rounders we're the biggest piece in that deal, were they not? so how are we getting lost with me saying that bernier is probably going to be better than whoever we draft in the 2nd round?

well in order to get high end players/ prospects... you have to trade players of equal value... so middle tier prospects wont cut it. You have to give to get.

if bernier is the stud you think he is, then he is a much more blue chip, high end prospect than lindback..........that means the kings will get MORE than two 2nds and a 3rd.....

that may or may not be true.. have to see how it all pans out.

high end prospects don't always get traded for high end picks/talent.. alot of the time sure, but not all the time. there's still a risk involved in trading for a "prospect" like bernier, as opposed to shipping that high end talent away for a goaltender like say, halak.

lindback was a pretty solid prospect to, might have even been considered high end.. there was no 1st round picks or high end prospects traded for him. more of the quantity vs quality persuasion.

Luonog stays with the Canucks.

Gillis wants something decent in return. Nobody will give him that because of the dumb Luongo contract. (yes it is stupid, regardless of what Canucks fans say).

So... Gillis will hold on to Luongo.

Hell, we don't even really have a clue whether or not Toronto was even interested.,

- GoneFullRetard

As agitating as this comment is, you are correct, Gillis does not have to deal Luongo, however, Burke has made it known that he is looking for a goalie. So, I don't really know how the TB trade helps Torontos bargaining position......

i'm not saying they wont. but the timing is good. there's not to many suitors and lots of competition. maybe LA originally wanted the high end deal, and with tampa settled, they had to lower their price?

if it took a scrivens, kadri, 2nd, 4th type combo in the end.. is that really a big deal?

he'll most likely go for something a lot pricier.. and if he does.. cool. my argument was originally that we shouldn't pass on talented young goaltenders like him simply because we have scrivens and reimer.. that's all it was. there are goalies out there i like just as much as bernier, if not more.
