He didn't see the real situation: Toronto is the only team looking at Luongo, they have no choice but to trade him to us, and therefore can be fed any price.
- Schenn-Sational!

They could keep him until the deadline when some team becomes desparate.

Gardiner + Schenn + 5th overall is a good trade for Luongo

Getzlaf has played all his career with Carlyle... was there a big falling out this year?

I'd rather Jordan Staal. And I don't want to hear how he isn't a top liner. He's a 23 year old who plays with poopty linemates, and still puts up good numbers while being a Selke nominee.

If that's what he is at 23, imagine what he'll be between 25-33, playing with a guy like Kessel.

- Schenn-Sational!

Staal is not coming to Toronto.

Check the records - that's what I was hoping they would do last year.

Woulda been a lot better than the Monster.

A lot better.

And would have been so much fun rooming with James/Jesus Reimer

30 teams.

I just heard that Vancouver is thinking of putting together a strong offer for Luongo.

Yes, he's that attractive.

- Atomic Wedgie

31 actually.. Scarlett Johansson would be the first to call

Yes, he's that attractive.

The NHL would have re-worked the schedule so that the Leafs would have been on the ESPN show for the Winter Classic - it would have been great tv.

there have been successful teams with 8-9 million tied up in a goalie tandem, there have been teams that sent their 4-5 million dollar players to the minors. for example if he isn't traded and chooses not to report to training camp until a deal is sorted out he's off the cap and the canucks can fill that roster spot

what established winning goalie is left? like i said before, the canucks still make the playoffs with him on or off the bench, the leafs aren't a serious contender if they don't fill their glaring hole in net

Buddy, quit being such a homer and start acknowledging the reality of the situation. Let me say this slowly for you...

The... Canucks... Are... Not... Dealing... From... A... Position... Of... Strength.

Between Luongo's age, the length of his contract, the limited number of teams interested in Luongo, the limited number of teams that can accomodate Luongo's contract, other goalie options, teams that Gillis is hesitant to work with in the NE division and Western Conference, the fact that Scheider is vulnerable to offer sheets on July 1st, the fact that having $5M sitting on the bench makes to sense given the Canucks opportunity to win the cup now while their window is still open, the possibility of pissing Schneider off if both goalies are kept etc etc etc... NONE of these factors benefit the Canucks or increase Luongo's value.

So you tell me. Is Burke under more pressure to just make the playoffs than Gillis is to see that his back-to-back President's trophy winner actually hangs a Stanley Cup banner with the best team that the Canucks franchise has ever had?

that might have something to do with the Rhino Grab it at their brewpub.

Organic and tankhouse are my go-to beers.

Also, Big Rock's Grasshopper is awesome... but their Trad Ale is awful

- Schenn-Sational!

I'll give it a try for sure ...

For any west enders they just opened a brewery on Ossington ...Bellwoods Brewery. The original guys behind Czehoski's. I've only made two runs down the beer menu but they have 3 or 4 good ones. Stay clear of the Banana infused IPA ....terrible.

Can we all agree to stop responding to the 'nucks fans on this?

They think Luongo is all that and a bag of chips. We disagree.

No point in going round and round and round.

Let's just thank them for their input, and say we shall wait and see.

Don't feed the trolls.

Sure they are. Who says they have to deal Lou at all? Why trade him for nothing when you can use him for the next 5 years and trade Schneider for a much better return.
OR
Keep both goalies and play them both for the next year.....wait until a team is really desparate for a goalie.
Dont fall for all this BS that TO is the only that could get him.

the problem is schneider might not resign with luongo in the fold.. so it would either be a sign n trade or unsigned player trade.. thus.. limiting the return

Getting him isn't necessarily a big prize though. You could just as easily say that Toronto may be the only team that might take him. Might. Because I wouldn't.

Not at, they have Schneider for 1 more year...Lou could be trade by then...or work a sign and trade deal....which doesn't limit the return...just the location.
Either way, the return will be greater than Lou's.
Gillis is in no rush, no need to be.
Again, just more T.O media hype crap.

This situation reminds me a bit of Vincent Lecavalier, good player that has been involved in too many trade rumors. lots of teams would take either player on their team but a stupid contract makes trades unlikely! also both vancouver and TB would want a decent return, why give up a core player for nothing!

Bottom line Vancouver is still better with Luongo than without him, and i cannot see Burke wanting to have anything to do with that contract especially right before we see a new CBA. so I do not expect to see him in blue and white anytime soon, or at all for that matter,
....unless the new CBA makes such a deal possible
