I doubt Luongo will have a slightly better trade value next year when he's 1yr older, with the same contract and just came off a season where he was a backup.

Having 2 top 10 goalies in the league on your team is not a good spot to be in...

It's a big risk to assume Schneider will stick around...even if he says he's "happier" with the situation. If his agent thinks he'll be better off elsewhere, and to be honest he is if his only fair crack at being the true #1 in Vancouver is if they can successfully unload Luongo. The goaltending decision past next season may never be in the organization's hand.

If the Canucks are taking back salary...pretty sure Chicago could dig up 5 mill in cap space to go back that is better than Komisarek or Connolly.

They go to arbitration, then after this year he is a UFA and hits the open market, where he will most definitely get starter $$$. Vancouver risks being stuck with Louongo, who has lost now lost the crowd. That would be trouble.
