Some of you guys just make stuff up so it is easier to believe what you want to believe. Florida is letting Clemmenson walk. They have an opening for a starting goalie. Roberto never wanted to leave S. Florida. He would love to come back. Florida has the deepest prospect pool of any team in the NHL. They are also a playoff team that will be even stronger next year. So, now you tell me where you think Roberto wants to end up. - spatso
I never said that he's only going to the Leafs (and I don't want him: not ready for a run yet and not sure he's the guy who could carry us like a Quick/Brodeur/Thomas could).
Florida's certainly a ideal destination for him and his family, that's for sure. I'm only firm in my belief that Lou has to be moved, regardless, and that (and his NTC) make's Gillis' trade position weak. |

Vancouver want a lot for Luongo, and I don't see the LEAFS giving them that. |

hahah imagine getzlaf and perry were to come to toronto, that would be something else.... I can only imagine what would be going the other way though, since burke wont leave his old team empty handed. What would the price be to acquire both getz and perry though is the question.
1st Rounder 2012, Colborne, Franson, Biggs, Percy, kulemin, mac, ashton, holzer, 1st Rounder 2013 for perry and getzlaf, prob add in justin schultz right as well haha.

The fans want a lot, think Gillis is a bit more realistic than that. |

You think?
All we need is to somehow hotwire NHL13 into the psyches of the NHL GMs and we're all set; or maybe wear bras on our heads and hope for a lightning strike to hit just at the right time?

The luongo situation is sort of like the Sundin situation. You have a GM that wants to trade a player but his hands are handcuffed. In the end, the player basically gets what he wants, and the team gets (frank)ed.
Not fair, but its reality |

Ok., I just don't understand how Leaf fans can will themselves not to see something. The mere fact that Tallon has allowed Clemmenson to walk suggests to me that they are intending to bring in a new starter. Last year Tallon brought in Campbell at a much bigger cost than Luongo (his contract is back end loaded). Because the Luongo contract scales down dramatically towards the end it is perfect for a team like the Panthers. It drives me crazy when Leaf fans pretend with each other that there are no options other than the Leafs for Luongo. |

Actually thought Jose would be part of the price to Vancouver and Markstrom would slide in as back up. |

I wouldn't be surprised if:
- Luongo to Red Wings
- Howard to Leafs - MaximusAurelius
I'd be shocked.

Theodore played pretty well and is still under contract for this year, but yeah, Lou to Florida makes a lot of sense too. I don't think it's the fans fault really: the media's almost exclusively been talking about VAN to TOR: why wouldn't we talk it to death?
Lou's contract is a solid 5.33M cap hit across the board; doesn't really tail off until year 8 (I think), but who knows? He could play out that entire contract. Certainly not unheard of, just look at Brodeur, Roloson, etc. Guys are going to play into their 40s nowadays if they can. |

so berniers dozen games or so this year proves he is gonna be a starter?
if he comes cheap, sure, but I doubt he will and the Leafs simply can't be giving up anymore high picks . enough is enough - Barx
No it's not going to prove he is a starter, but it proves that he has been better then scrivens at every single level. What I'm trying to say is out of Reimer, Scrivens, and Bernier, Bernier has the best shot at been a actual NHL starter. Honestly you have to be drunk to think otherwise. |

The contract is actually pretty good for a top rated NHL goalie. He gets $6.7m for another 6 years and then it drops off to what is consistent for a back up. The cap is reasonable at $5.3m. Also, if he retires there is no ongoing cap hit.

I think there is some truth in this point. It may be the reason that others tend to be so dismissive of the Toronto point of view. How many times do we see Toronto listed as a possible landing place for a top UFA. But none of the top UFA's from any year, other than goaltenders, have actually signed with the Leafs.

This is true, but as long as it doesn't cost anything more then 2nd round picks such as Lindback got, I am more then willing to give them because more then likely anyone picked with be a hell of alot worse then Bernier. |
