i remember when EK said we were interested in him maybe a year before this went down and calgary fans said they were really excited for all that regehr would bring in an trade and also that he was unbelievably slow. i don't think the sabres brought him in thinking he was speedy, i just think they expected him to be rhett warrenner-like aka a really solid defender that is physical. one thing i read shortly after this trade and didn't know abou regehr is that one contributing factor towards his foot speed is that he was in a car accident really early in his pro career that resulted in both of his legs being broken and most thought he wouldn't ever play again. i'm not making excuses but just laying out a potential reason why he's so slow.

best answer to this question is: BUTCH GORING

got traded to the Islanders and they win 4 consecutive Stanley Cups

In the 1980 season, Goring was traded in March to the New York Islanders in exchange for Billy Harris and Dave Lewis, and was widely regarded as being one of the key elements that pushed the Islanders over the top to become champions. That season, he scored 19 points in 21 playoff games to help the Islanders to the first of four consecutive Stanley Cups. The next season (1980–81), he improved upon his previous playoff run, scoring 10 goals and 10 assists in 20 playoff games, and was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff most valuable player, as the Islanders won their second Cup.

this discussion starts and ends with Goring, PERIOD

If we are going back in time a bit, the Ron Francis/ Ulf Samuelsson deadline deal trade is one of the top ones of all time.

It's great that the morning guys on WGR trash this site (as they should,) yet they talk about almost every Sabres rumor that gets posted on here.

It's because if they don't, someone will (either a caller or an emailer). Ignoring it like it doesn't exist just doesn't work.
