i just think that buffalo and goose are too far apart dollar wise for it to work.. i would think he would have to be the 4th line center so he would make 1.7 very tops.. that is a huge pay cut for him

Relaistically, Darcy could be looking at all options, and not settling on a Statsny type player.

Also in my mind, I can't see a scenario where Gaustad comes back, purely based on $$.

I see Goose going to a team like Boston, Jersey or Tonto if the price is right. He plays a valuable role and these teams know what he brings.

Even a sober Glen Sather would not pay that. I wish him luck wherever he goes but he's worth a max of $2M per and that's certainly not based on his scoring prowess.

soem guys do some don't. The team is made up of a lot of babies that don't like Ruff being hard on them, when in reality a lot of these guys have no idea how hard other coaches are to play for.

Just took this off the main Staal thread, but according to Pens beat writer Rob Rossi, hes hearing Carolina has offered Brandon Sutter, Justin Falk, the 8th pick and possibly another piece for Staal and could be willing to take on Paul Martin's contract

Sutter will be a ppg guy playing on a line w either Crosby or Malkin

Staal doesn't make much sense anyway
He's trying to get out of a situation where he isn't used against other teams' top lines and have more of an offensive role
But what role would he fill with us?
Sure, he'd technically be our #1, but we'd ask him to go up against other teams' top lines
We def won't use ennis that way,
And Hodgson might develop into that type a guy, but def not yet. And to ask Hodgson to fill that role now would just slow down his development...

So asking staal to take on the same basic role he's is trying to get out of seems like a bad recipe IMO

Plus, it looks like its gonna cost waaaaaay too much to get him
