I wish Homer, Kevin, or another blogger would write a post about "The ten trades most likely to occur involving the Buffalo Sabres on draft day" and come up with 10 realistic trade scenarios for Friday.

Although all of the trades probably wouldn't happen, it would give us something to sink our teeth in until the draft.

Darcy has a lot of stuff on the table but I'm not being told what. Darcy says he is busier than ever with trade talk due to the fact that a lot of teams are looking to shake things up and the FA market beyond a name or two is pretty week so trades are the only way to do that.

The only name I heard, and Ive said this before, is Zach Bogosian.

Sharp has always had better stats then Staal.. and Hjalmarsson could be a top 4 guy in a year or two.

If you ask me... Pitt is getting a huge upgrade in that deal.

It's pretty even. Sharp is 30 and plays a good 2 way game. Hammer is a top 4 d-man already but Staal is the prototypical big physical Center gm's dream about. He is not a superstar but certainly worth Pat Sharp and a decent defensman.

other than that.. it is either overpaid bottom 6 guys or legit bottom 6 guys.

Relaistically, Darcy could be looking at all options, and not settling on a Statsny type player.

Also in my mind, I can't see a scenario where Gaustad comes back, purely based on $$.

Plus the only reason why Evander is even in trade talks is becuase his teammates have told the media that he doesn't get along with anyone..

No offense towards you, just speaking in generalities, but this is not right either.

Stastny's name gets thrown around, so has Parise, Stoll, Staal, Suter, etc. But there is very little "potential" to add any of them. Trade ideas and speculation gets thrown around and there usually isn't a lot of substance to it. When trades are made, it's unlikely that someone had it ahead of time. 1 out of 5 or 6 would probably be too high a rate.

Do an exercise. Start writing down everything that comes out. Make a note if something is from a "source." Then look at your list on October first and compare it to the actual transactions made. I bet it isn't 1 out of 10 for trades or signings.

I see Goose going to a team like Boston, Jersey or Tonto if the price is right. He plays a valuable role and these teams know what he brings.
