I'm just messin man.

But I don't want Parise simply for cap reasons.

Id rather have 2 or 3 good players versus 1 great player.

Regarding parise, or any other 7+ mil player, I don't think we need one. We've got Quick to lock up, a couple UFAs this year, over the next 2 years got some D to sign or find replacemnts, etc. I don't think it'd be best to go after a one of those guys. Just thinking long term.

I completely agree. Kinda funny how maybe now, big name players want to come here, and we dont need/want them. No, but your right, I think we are good for right now, I want to keep stoll, and penner said he would take a discount, so thats good. I think gagne is done though

Id like to keep both too. I have a bad feeling about Stoll. I think he will get offered "big" money, at least more than we want to give. Maybe we can give him a 2 or 3 year contract for a good amount and hope he takes it. Penner is an enigma. I think a lot of his problems were exwife problems, id like to have him in any event. When he uses that big body of his and skates like he cares, he doesn't need to score to make a difference. I also think, if gagne doesn'treturn, that we give Toffoli a chance on the third or fourth line. He's proven he can score on all levels, let's see if he can do it with the big club. Size is his disadvantage, but were a big physical team to begin with so I think he'd be able to fit in and bring another dimension.

ah, like getting richards and giving up simmonds, schenn and a 2nd in 2012 that they traded to get grossman.

it did work out but yes there are enough big contracts on your team.

agree. again. hey, your a smart guy. I think we sign both for one more year, and im ok with that. The thing with penner, look if you have marital problems, I understand. But I just don't think that was it, i cant really explain it. but i think their was more to it. needless to say, its pretty bittersweet at this point, but he said he wanted to stay so... i dunno. Im really excited to see toffoli, vey, and weal. Another thing I was thinking, was about sutter. I might get flamed for this, but I think he should go. and soon.

The thing with Penner, he always had his humor, even without his game. I guess it depends how you want to look at it. It seems he lacked a lot of confidence and his mind was elsewhere. There very well could be more to it. Even towards the end, he played well, but still didn't have prolonged bouts of energy. He stilll got tired. But he played hard. Why the change? I don't know.

Why don't you like Sutter?

yes you won. good for your team. only the 2nd ever in the PST to do it.

let's be honest. obviously you'd want parise. I can see you saying you don't want radulov or semin (I won't judge) but zach would be the favorite player almost overnight.

- therealagent

Oh dude. I never said i didnt want Parise. Id take him at any given time. Parise is my favorite player in the game. But some stars would have to align for that to happen.

I do, I like how hes right to the point, i like his work ethic, and what he has done for this team, he holds players accountable, and gets the best out of his players. What I dont like (bare with me here) is his mentality, I think it wears on players, and I read somewhere, thats what happened with the flames. They shut him out. Of course, that could just be an angry flames fan, but I think if anything, he works his players to hard, I know that sounds stupid. But its just a thought.

Gagne is locked up for one more year but after how long it took for him to get over this last concussion, one more hit to the head and he is done. That would be the biggest reason I would not mind seeing Parise. Don't forget if we loose Stoll, which I think we will, we have Loktionov ready to play a full season. And since Gagne is only for one more year that is cap space we loose before the new contract for Quick comes into play. And tell me that having this as the top three lines is not scarry for every team that would face us.
Parise, Kopi, Williams
Gagne, Richards, Carter
Penner, Lokti, Brown
And in the absence of Penner there is King. And keeping Penner he can move up, if and sadly when, Gagne goes down with King stepping in on the third line. And as long as we could get Parise for under or right at 7 mil it would not kill us on the cap.

I watched an interview with him, and the way he answered some of his questions, he just sounded done, like he wanted to go out with a bang, and I dont blame him. And I wouldn't mind parise, but if we dont get him, im ok with it. And I dont like lokti, he playes so... tentative, like hes scared to touch the puck. I hope we keep stoll, and If we lose penner, king is a very good replacement.

Besides cap/resigning Quick issues, that's what I'm a little worried about when adding a Parise. It removes a bit of the physical fear factor from our top line. Parise is an elite winger, and if any team can add a player like him financially, you find a way...but where does he fit? Second line?..not a player of his caliber. Yet, Parise-Kopi-Willi? Some small wingers there. Great, but small. An upgrade in talent, but we just won with a different formula. All this considered, where would I play him in the top six? Not sure.

HE never got shut out by the flames, he just became a GM.

You're thinking of the wrong Sutter. Working players too hard...sheesh. What are they the canucks?

Darryl stopped coaching the flames to concentrate on being a GM...DON'T let him do that again lol

Brown on third line?
- StayTunedMTC

That's what I'm getting at. We would banish the co-leader in playoff scoring and leader in hits to third line minutes? Needless to say, it would be an interesting balance for our top six. Who knows? I have nothing but praise for Parise.

Thank God no top UFA chooses LA

If you look at Lokti's stats from the last 5 games he played he only took faceoffs in 2 of those games and had a 57 and 67%. He is also a skill player and as such needs some better people around him on the offense. Which is quite typical of those from Russia. And I think that third line could give him more of the skill he would need to be seen as a better player. He is in a very tough spot since we are locked up down the middle on the top 2 lines and he did not play well on the wing when they tried it. So he is going to have to be able to become a winger or be a third line guy and this might just be the year to find that out. He only has one year left on his EL contract so better to find out now if he will fit than have to try and pay him more to find out. I don't want to lose Stoll but I think he will be offered enough he will probabily go. As long as we don't lose both Stoll and Penner it will not hurt too bad. Both could leave a void especially if Gagne either retires or goes down to injury. But if he retires that would leave us with another 3.5 mil of cap space.

Lokti is not a third line center. We can play him there if we lose Stoll, but he would be a stop-gap, only there to give him experience and increase his trade value. With Kopi and Richie (and Carter as a backup), Lokti is expendable.

Not saying that is the best way to set it up but are Richards and Carter second line players? If say Gange retires as was mentioned that could solve many of the problems by putting Parise on the second line and keeping Brown on the top line. And if you look at Parise size it is not that much differnet from Browns he just plays differently. There is only 1in and 10lbs but one is more a skill player the other is a grinder. I think it is somewhat a nightmare to have to deal with where to place players if he makes a choice for LA but it is a nightmare I would not mind having to see. What a great thought of having so much talent you don't know where you are going to put them. I would rather keep Stoll to Penner which also solves the problem but as I have already said I think he is offered too much money to not go. And Penner has said he wants to stay with the team have not heard that from Stoll. And lets be honest we were really lucky from an injury standpoint this year. The only top foward that went down for any real time was Gagne. Do I think we will be so lucky next year? Doubt it.

Agree with this, as long as Quickie is fit into the financial equation. The cap troubles me the most. Getting Parise would be great. Having a $16-18M second line, not so much. DL will do the right thing...if Parise is hip with LA in the first place.

I know about King, etc being on the third line. I'm just dreaming.
