It is a little suspect, but you're right, he can't be fully judged until that group proves whether they're long term NHL players or not. Like the article says...don't forget Bortuzzo and Strait as decent prospects. I think both of those guys could be a 5th or 6th on some teams.
Still would be nice to have a player or two come out out of nowhere and produce....especially a forward.
Regardless, as long as he continues to fleece other GM's trades, I'll remain a big fan.

I'm bored at work, so looking back at the drafts, the 2007 is really the only draft where he can be judged. 2006, he just came on board, so it's not like he had his people in place.
In 2008 we started in the 4th round so can't expect much, and 2009-2011 are too recent to judge.
Here's the 2007 draft:
20 1 Angelo Esposito C - Bust, but flipped when he has some value in Dupuis trade
51 2 Keven Veilleux C Could be a decent player if he could ever put a healthy season togeter
78 3 Robert Bortuzzo D-Could play in the NHL now
80 3 Casey Pierro-Zabotel L-Worthless, and has a psycho wife
111 4 Luca Caputi L- Tweener - Good numbers in Jrs and AHL, traded for Ponikarovsky.
118 4 Alex Grant D-One of the top D-men in WBS this past season
141 5 Jake Muzzin D-Had a cup of coffee with the LA Kings
171 6 Dustin Jeffrey C-Verdict still out, looks like he has tools, and for a 6th rd pick, not bad at all.
