The kid is in his early 20's. Beleive it or not, he is going to make questionable decisions.
He said he would sign, and he changed his mind. That is the extent of what he has done wrong, and it is absolutely no reason to villanize the player. - Leafs43
The problem now is the trickle affect, imagine the CBA including FA instead of draft
wonder if this opens the door? |

getting tired of everyone having such a problem about Schultz - namely Anaheim.
He's following the league rules - he never signed a contract, is it his problem that there is a loophole? what is he some indentured slave?
Tell me that if there was not a loophole for a GM to improve his team he would not take advantage of it?
He is in a position to choose his employer - just like every other person does.... |

Once again, it's not what he's doing, it's how he's doing it. If he doesn't want to play in Anaheim, how about filling us in. How about giving us a little information to work with. Don't tell his mom, don't tell his barber. Tell us! We're the one who drafted you!
Also, it's not just Anaheim fans that are questioning his judgement, your blogger did too several days ago. |

So do you think that the ducks would have traded Gardiner to TO if they would have known Schultz would not sign like he said he was? |

I was under the impression that it was this year Schultz said he would sign. Gardiner was traded last year.
And this brings up an interesting point. it shows that teams can show absolutely no loyalty to a player by trading them, but when a player shows no loyalty, he is a villain. |

It is my understanding that TO wanted Schultz thrown in the deal not Gardiner. Had we known he wanted to play elsewhere I believe we would still have Gardiner. I understand that he may have changed his mind, but it screwed us. That is what Ducks fans are pissed about and rightfully so.
I understand your point about loyalty between teams and the players, but to me that goes both ways. Players asking to be traded, taking less money to go where they want, etc. Fans get pissed at both players and the organizations |

I agree. Schultz screwed the Ducks big time. He could have let them know for a while now so at least they could have got a return for him. I know that this is completely in his rights to do, but he should have handled it better. I would be pissed if I was the Ducks management, players and fans as well. As an Oiler fan I know how it feels. That being said I would love to have him on the Oilers. |

Exactly, and why would Schultz want to play for the Ducks anyway when there are about 20 other destinations I would choose as a player. The rules are being followed here so I think the Ducks and their fans are just calling sour grapes. I think Schultz will have a great career in Edmonton. |

What a pile of horse crap coming anaheims way... Kadri a 1st liner?...Colborne 2nd line center?... That instantly turns anaheim into a dead last team every year for the next few years. The ONLY thing toronto is giving up that has any real value is the 2 1sts and Franson. The rest are scraps... and wouldn't get you one of those players let alone all 3.... you pretty much threw in every player that toronto fans don't want any more.. the only player you left off is Komi.
That is probably the worst and most lopsided trade proposal I have ever seen in the history of the world... WOW... you just took a giant poop on the whole Anaheim organization and should issue an apology to anyone who reads this. |
