We traded Nash to CBJ last off season for Voracek the 8th overall and a 3rd rounder.

I agree with this. Nash and Giroux could potentially form one the most dynamic lines in hockey. It would still be hard for me to swallow trading JVR, but if it can get done for Schenn, Bob, and a first I'm doing it in a heart beat. Columbus doesnt have much leverage now in my opinion, and Nash will be going to the highest bidder. I honestly see Nash going to the rags

he's scored 70 or more points in exactly 1 of 9 seasons.
- OrangeBlack27

Those stats are a fact. Although Columbus usually isnt one of the most high powered offenses in the league. I wonder what % Nash has on scoring during the entire season. If he was out of the lineup Columbus would be in serious trouble imo.

In Columbus, yes. You are correct.

Its ok.. if Nash was a center they would be like twins.

In all seriousness though... If we had drafted Nash people would be flipping out. He is a #1 overall pick who has cracked 70 points exactly 1 time. He is huge yet doesnt have a very physical game... He is a virtual lock for about 30-35 goals a year, but is also a virtual lock to miss about 8 games a year...

at the very least, carter is a significantly better bargain at 5.27 per

Yeah, I really don't see him having a twenty goal jump in production like others seem to foresee.

Hes played in 75 or more games each year over the past six seasons. Not sure where this lock to miss games comes in at. Honestly, hes been in Columbus not sure why he hasnt missed more.

What did Zherdev do in CBJ.. What about Voracek... what about Vermette... what about Umberger..

All of these guys have played at least 2 seasons outside of CBJ and put up comparable #s....

Despite what others feel on this board, if we can get him for JvR, Bob, and a mid-round pick, then I do that in a flash.
- LordStanley88

same here. I love JVR but Nash is proven and is ready to pair with Giroux 'now'. Bob is more of a hindrance with his cap now that Bryz is here so he can go so we can sign a backup for cheap..... and the 20th pick..... Well it's not the first time we didn't draft in the first with our own pick. Jmo. Nash with Giroux would be awesome. Resign Carle. Take a shot at garrison.

Well, to be fair even with him in the line up Columbus is still in serious trouble.

I think Nash would have better numbers if he played somewhere other than Columbus, thats just my opinion. Teams really only focus on him b/c the BlueJackets are terrible.

In his 9 seasons he has played in 82 games one time, 76 or below 5 times..

So in 5 of 9 seasons he has missed at least 6 games.. Not saying he isnt a durable guy... just how Philly fans would go nuts about him being soft...

Hell Carter played in how many 82 game seasons, through broken feet, and he is soft.

I think where he plays can be a factor. When your in a winning environment people are completely different. They may play through an injury that they normally wouldnt for a team that stinks. Once again just my opinion.

i just cannot handle 7.8 for a 60-point guy who hasn't killed penalties in two years. there are probably like 50 forwards who would be more interesting to me, cap hit and potential availability notwithstanding.

Columbus is the worse team in the NHL. I would trade Nash and try to collect as much as possible and rebuild. The only problem is Nash is the face of the franchise and they need to fill the seats.

I'm not saying the Flyers should trade for Rick Nash. I just think his numbers would be better if he was playing in another city other than Columbus.

That's where my problem is, the cap hit. It's a huge gamble, considering that cap hit lasts six seasons. And we have to give up assets for that? I can't see him living up to the price tag.

I understand that... but I was more or less commenting on the fact that (as Bills blog so wonderfully states) the grass is greener on the other side....

If we had Nash... ppl would be female doging that he was a #1 pick... when in other years Crosby, Ovechkin, etc are #1s...

Would I take Nash... in a heartbeat... in a non-cap world.

Would I take Nash in the cap'd NHL... nope. Not with that monster contract.

Ill take JvR at 4.25 over Nash 12 days a week.
