I think that should be the plan of action for this team in general, hoping and allowing them to get better. Good assembly of young talent and the sky is the limit. I don't see the need to go out and get this guy or that guy as if our lives depended on it. Be nice to add a marquee player but we have some already.

Agreed. If its a cant miss deal and helps the team im all for it. On the flip I'd very willing to let this team, minus a few minor changes, roll with it until the TDL and determine then if an extra boost is needed.

3 important offseason tasks the flyers face, IMO, other than signings and trades are:

1. Bryzgalov focusing on having a much more consistent season
2. JVR rehabbing and being ready for camp and to make an impact
3. Laviolette figuring out how to get his team to strengthen its team defense

- funmaster18

The odds of JvR even being on the club next year are slim IMO.

Why has it been clear all along that the Flyers won't make a major D signing ot trade?
- MJL

Amended comments.

It has been clear to many intelligent observers that the flyers will not make a major signing or trade on d

you should be working for TSN or the NHL network then because none of their "experts" claim to have any clarity on what the Flyers moves are going to be

He did well in front of the net. Not a's much in the corners. Appears lanky and puck gets lost in his skates. Should get stronger and better. A very very good third liner IMO. Not yet a true second liner.
- Daman

If he can the other young players can take even a small step forward, the flyers are going to have a really good team this year as is, IMO. Hopefully that happens.

Simmonds is a very strong player on the forecheck and in puck battles along the wall and in the corners. One of his best assets as a player.

I disagree that the chances are slim, though certainly a possibility.

So are you saying that to those it's not clear to, aren't intelligent observers?

No. No implication either. Infer what you will.

I think you should take some english classes then because what he inferred is exactly what the message implied.

Well then tell me. What exactly is it that makes it clear to intellignet observers that the Flyers aren't going to make a significant move with the defense?

And I may not be an intelligent observer, but I don't think anything is clear as to what the Flyers are going to do. They coould any number of directions. Most moves made aren't predicted. They could go offense, defense, or both. Or neither. Who knows. But I'm not an intellignet observer.

That would suggest that all intelligent people have the same opinions. I don't need an English lesson to understand that. I could use a massage from a hot Asian girl though

Another one of his best assets is the SO...just kidding. It is his willingness to stand up for his teammates. You can't have enough "team toughness" IMHO. I would not like to see him traded, we are lacking some of the toughness without him. Yes, Hartnell, Schenn, Talbot, and Rinaldo can bring it but that isn't enough for my liking. Simmonds is a quality player at a good cap hit for the Flyers. I do think he overachieved in his offensive production and do not expect that area of his game to grow. His D game, I hope so.
