I think it's also pretty clear that they'll take skill over need, as well. We probably could have used Hamilton last year, but my guess is that they took Strome because they felt he was a far more skilled player, albeit at a different position. I have to imagine if Grigorenko/Galchenyuk fall to us that they'll select them over a defenseman.

Sorry...I get too frustrated when I talk about the Islanders...I question if they really want to improve their on-ice product. They need to bring in some NHL quality players this year...

2008- in the NHL Bailey, matt martin and Hamonic .. (SPurgeon playing for Wild already)
-small taste or on way in Ullstrom, Poulin, Donovan, Ness
possibility in future.. Petrov and Trivino

2009- JT in,
DeHaan, Nilsson, Casey C and Anders Lee on way..

What value you think Kabanov has? A depth dman? Won't be anything close to a young player.

KHL issue pure conjecture based on rumor. For all we know, he could have been setting up spot IF NHL had lockout. The only person who wrote it might have been nefarious was Botta who offered no source, quote, or anything in an actual blog. So hard to really make judgement on that alone.

I disagree...I guess John Taveres was not NHL ready when they drafted him...lets put all the cards on table BD...the Islanders management sucks...they have no clue what they are doing...hence the lousy results. Dave Maloney said it best during one of the Saturday Hockey Night broadcasts. He said (and I'm paraphrasing) outside of Tavares, Okposo and Hamonic, they are the only NHL players they have. He said they got lucky with Moulson but Parenteau and Grabner and the others they bring in are other teams castoffs and unitil they change their thinking, they will continue to be at the bottom of the standings. I'm not a Dave Maloney fan but I pretty much agree with him...
