I went to that site you told me about. Hockey Prospectus. (Good one BTW) They have him ranked 5th overall. There are some reservations but thats natural with all prospects. They have him slightly edging out Dumba mainly because he's a forward. Check it out.
- SCLI

He's definitely got skill but there's no chance that were going to take him at #4. If they like him and want to trade down and take him that's OK. But somebody will inevitably female dog that he's too small and other players don't explode into a fine mist when he checks them. I also read he's a bit of a perimeter player.

Corey Pronman @coreypronman

Oilers before had a top 5 of Yakupov, Murray, Reinhart, Forsberg, Grigorenko. Apparently have eliminated latter two.

If they like Reinhart then they should trade out of the number one spot, but they said they were sticking to there guns at one.

No chance. Eklund says that, nobody else does.

This what McKenzie said when was interviewed by Gallof:

McKenzie: “If the Islanders opt for a forward, the obvious choices, assuming Yakupov is gone, would be Filip Forsberg, the big Swedish winger, Alex Galchenyuk, the offensive center who plays alongside Yakupov in Sarnia, or maybe Teuvo Teravainen, the diminutive Finn whose stock is skyrocketing.

The signing of joensuu just takes away a spot for a younger player like Ullstrom and Cizikas. If your going to go young and sign some quality vets then do it, it's so stupid how they sign these crap players to get to the cap floor and take away playing time for the kids. If they want to build within that's good, but don't waste JT's time with these crap signings. Instead of signing like 4 scrubs for 1 mil a piece, how about he offers a quality player 5 mil per year that will help the team.

Joensuu is an Islander prospect... we drafted him

I mean his stock has been high for awhile, but there's no chance that he's going to be the fourth overall selection. It's cool if we want him, but if they're going to take him they better trade down and snag some extra picks. I don't think there's a chance he goes in the top 5. My guess is that he goes at #9 to the Jets. Maybe the Ducks at 6 if they don't want to draft a defenseman, but with Palmieri and Etem on the way and Ryan, Perry, and Getzlaf already on the team I would imagine they take Dumba or Reinhart.

And tendered him an offer so we retained his rights.

I agree with you. I dont think he's on our radar. I just wanted to point out to you that his ranking is pretty high. He is a smurf. Some sites have him listed at around 160lbs. If we're going for a forward. I'd prefer one with some size. The more I read about the two Russians the more I understand why you prefer them.

Again I've read that the draft talent drops off considerably after the 9th pick!

Its getting close. I'm very curious to see what unfolds on draft night.

Yeah not only are Galchenyuk and Grigorenko more skilled but they both have NHL frames. Grigorenko is 6'3'' and Galchenyuk is a shade under 6'1''.

I can't wait for next Friday.

"it's so stupid how they sign these crap players to get to the cap floor and take away playing time for the kids. If they want to build within that's good, but don't waste JT's time with these crap signings. "

thats the last thing this signing is.

Can you believe there is blog going on about whether to trade Matt Duechene!

Some are even saying that a trade to the Leafs for the 5th overall and Luke Schenn should get it done!!!

Hypothetically! Would you trade our 4th and Casey Cizikas for Matt Duechene?

Easily. I can't imagine any of that is serious. I think that's just the Toronto media being the Toronto media. Probably mostly due to his weak season.

It's the AV's blog here on HB. I realize they are frustrated fans like us. But Deuchene?

His work ethic has been questioned. His dedication. Complaints over his drop in numbers. Injury prone.

I dont get it. He had a great rookie season. Got hurt in his sophomore season. Was played on several lines when he came back. Now some fans seem to think he's on the block.

And they call us nuts.

Maybe they're kicking around the idea of it, but 5th overall and Schenn probably wouldn't get it done. He's still got a ton of value.

Thats what I believe although their blogger says his value is LOW right now. I really cant believe some of the things I'm reading over there. Especially the Blog and Page 2.

Get Garth on the Phone.

Colorado is ripe for the picking. If their Blogger were in charge.

Throw in Aaron Ness to. Just to be good sports.

I know he's not going to get traded... But if Garth could add Duchane without a single roster player going the other way.... GM of the year

Someone in here would probably complain that he should have traded for Crosby instead.

WOOF WOOF. Wolf Pack in the House!

I've always liked Duchene. I actually wanted him over JT at that time.

Hey I'm not perfect.

I'd be thrilled if we had both.

I remember some guy at the draft party that year with a Duchene sign. No personal offense intended, but I just never got how anyone wanted Hedman or Duchene over JT. He was always the clear cut #1 in my eyes.

Wasnt me and I wanted no part of Hedman. I still dont care for him.

I listened and read all the reports. I thought Duchene was the more rounded out player. I kept reading that JT was a one dimensional scorer but couldnt skate or do little else. That he'd get 40 goals a yr but wasnt very special.

This is why I say that the more I read. The more confused I get.

I should just stick to my gut feeling. Its served me well for many yrs.

This may not be very popular but when I read and hear about Murray.

I think Hedman. He hasnt impressed me during his young career and I've seen quite a few Lightning games.

Not impressive, but he sees the ice quite well & is never really out of position... he will develop into a premier d-men.
