i dont see a 5 year/15 million contract as a good contract, so right there might be where we disagree.

whether they are below the cap floor or not really doesnt matter cause we all know that the NHL cap floor is essentially the islanders cap ceiling, they arent spending much more than the floor.

not hoping for another moulson, im hoping for EITHER another moulson, a few of MANY prospects to step up, a FA signing or a trade

- LetsGoIsles

They have to spend a lot of money just to get to the floor so why not give it to somebody who likes it here and has already produced here? Just my two cents. I think 5 years might be a bit much as well, they should make it for a year or two less and throw in a couple of more bucks to offset the lost years.

You have to admit, I'm pretty close to how the forwards will look next season...

You heard here first...Islanders sign Stoll (or someone like him) in free agency to a 2 year deal...he centers the 2nd line between Okposo and Bailey...and either they sign PA or they pickup a power forward to play with JT and Moulson...the 3rd line is Ullstrom, Neilsen and Grabner...Cizikas, Martin and Haley (if they sign him) and Reasoner make up the 4th line...those are your 2012-13 Islanders forwards...
- kear20

Stoll wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I'm not saying I want him but, that at least would allow Frans to go back to the 3rd and run a true shutdown line, with some offensive output.

Snow mentioned what you said this week when he addressed the season ticket holders...

I don't think they can afford to cut their losses and just walk away but it looks like that will be the case. If they were a big market team who likes to spend then yeah go out and replace him, but the Isles are not. They were one of the lowest scoring teams in the league last year. The guy produces and you know what you are getting. Letting him go for nothing and crossing your fingers and hoping a younger kid can replace his production is a step back in my opinion and not a very good strategy. You know how crazy the contracts get come July 1st and because of that he is gone. It should have never gotten this far. Snow facked up and now they are going to lose a 60-70 point player and they are gonna replace him with hope???

I'm just picking up on what Snow said to the season ticket holders this week. He wants a top 4 defenseman and a center on the 2nd line so Neilsen can be the 3rd line center...Stoll or Gaustad come to mind...overpay one of them and they'll sign...

There is a better chance than not unless he does a lot to add to this team OR this team performs way above expectations

Holy Crap! I had to leave for a few hours. Seems I missed some great exchanges. BD spending lots of time on here. Wonder if he's warming up for a come back.

Aside from the welcome visit from BD. Seems like the Wolf Pack has taken over todays posts! WOOOF!

Nielsen is a good third line center. To hear Snow address that publicly is a VERY good thing. Now his answer about team toughness on the other hand is ridiculous and does nothing to bolster his credibility. There is a reason why every single Islander fan or hockey writer/reporter noticed the lack of grit on this team. It's because there is none and it couldn't be more obvious. It's the stuff like this that makes me have ZERO faith in Snow. Does he actually believe this and he's that dense or is he avoiding the issue and not addressing it? Either answer to that question is not good and to me is a horrible portrait of Snow as GM of this team.

tsn mock draft(above) was one that had a different than usual projection.

There was another that I saw 4 different list-somewhere on HB the other day.

Not sure if it was an Eklund blog or someone else but I'll repost if I find it.

Also... very likely Isles stick to the #4 spot. They will wait to see what plays out. Likely have few players all rated equally, and depending on what happens, they are happy to sit pretty at #4 and collect whoever is still there.

They should be f'ing miserable that they're picking at 4. I am.

The Islanders are going to end up with at least 8 NHL players from 2008 draft and looks like 5 from 2009... but I am clueless.

But with a coach that sucks. Unfortunately, they're talent cannot overcome coaching and management deficiencies.

I agree. Maybe if they offered more money for less yrs. Say a 2 yr contract at a slightly inflated price. PAP gets his money. We keep our 1st line intact or improve our 2nd line. Move closer to the cap floor and PAP is free to make big money again at age 30. It's an Idea.

LEts not start with Ricky please. That guy is ruining this team just by showing his face
- kasperrko

without him, tho, Garth would have had to pay another plug a la rolston or have kept hunter on the roster to make the floor. You see.....Ricky IS helping the team.
Maybe Shaky & Boggsy can get him to help load the gear in & out of the arena.
