in the context of Scouting where I mention them... they are definetely a success story... definetely. - niteislander
I'll put a wait and see tag on that for now. These guys you're mentioning will all be given legitimate shots to make the team. I like Cizikas and Ullstrom. We'll have a better understanding of what their potential is after this season. |

go onto any Canadian blog and type Casy Cizicas.. they will talk about him like he is the next 15 time Selke winner. These are all VERY moveable assetts... very - niteislander
Not saying they don't have promise. All I'm saying is they have not proven anything at the NHL level and every team has prospects just like that. |

but what does that have to do with pap taking up a spot?? - LetsGoIsles
His post was saying we had prospects projected to being better players than PA which I disagreed with besides Strome and to a lesser degree Nelson |

what if?? what if the roof caves in? what if the plane crashes? i hear your point but the essence of a rebuild is stocking up on enough guys that the sheer numbers work in your favor that some of the guys pan out (with some veteran presence sprinkled in)...what if crosby, malkin, fluery, letang sucked? what if kane, toews, byfuglien sucked? sure it happens, but thats how you rebuild.... - LetsGoIsles
I know what rebuilding is, but you also can't let proven NHL'ers just walk for nothing hoping a decent prospect can step in 3 or 4 years from now. At some point the rebuild has to stop and winning has to begin, Also its not like the Isles have those guys you mentioned above waiting in the wings |

Exactly. All do and most of their fans over hype them as well. These kids are sold to fans by the teams and the press. These write ups are like advertisements for them more than anything. It's over blown BS for the most part. |

All bolded, all true. Absolute gaffe on Snow for letting that happen the way it did. There was no logic in keeping him. Playoff push? Give me a break. |

That's my point about Snow being in over his head. Everybody talks about his drafts then let him be in charge of the draft and get a real GM to take care of the big boy stuff |

if someone wants to go check around the deadline my opinion on pap youll CLEARLY see i wanted him GONE and fast...obviously that didnt happen and the isles are in the situation they are in right now with him bc he is (just about) free to talk to all teams. the question is do you cut your losses OR lock him up and cover up the missed opportunity?
EDIT: severely overpay for a guy who had a career year; i dont feel he is exactly an all star forward you build around. |

Good point...I think both Ullstrom (3rd line) and Cizikas (4th line) make the team along with Donovan (6th def.) out of training camp. |

I don't think they can afford to cut their losses and just walk away but it looks like that will be the case. If they were a big market team who likes to spend then yeah go out and replace him, but the Isles are not. They were one of the lowest scoring teams in the league last year. The guy produces and you know what you are getting. Letting him go for nothing and crossing your fingers and hoping a younger kid can replace his production is a step back in my opinion and not a very good strategy. You know how crazy the contracts get come July 1st and because of that he is gone. It should have never gotten this far. Snow facked up and now they are going to lose a 60-70 point player and they are gonna replace him with hope??? |

There's no reason for Cizikas to play fourth line minutes. If that's the only way he makes this team I'd rather see him go back to the Bridge.
Curious who centers the 3rd line if Strome doesn't make the team. Reasoner belongs on the fourth line (or lower) and if there's no Strome than Frans will have the 2nd. If they feel he's ready, I'd be OK with Cizikas anchoring the 3rd line. |

Everywhere..Buccigross reported it, among others.
Bolt Prospects @BoltProspects
Comes down to Lindback and a 7th for two 2nds and a 3rd. I like Lindback, but didn't think he had this much trade value. At all. |

agreed...but thats the fact of the matter. id rather garth say "(frank) we messed this one up BIG TIME but id rather let him walk than handcuff my organization with a mid-level player who is "easily" replaceable (in the sense guys like pap come around all the time)"
whether it means a prospect or another FA signing, finding another moulson/grabner, trading for another forward, im not sure, but at this point im done with parenteau.
garth blew it with pap and in order to make up (and even move forward) its going to cost garth some assets but at this point im willing pay that price. |

How is giving PAP a good contract handcuffing this team? They are so far below the cap its comical and like I said its not like they have a Bobby Ryan or Corey Perry waiting in the wings to replace him. Plenty of spots left on this team for prospects whether PAP is here or not. You're right that D-Bag blew it that's for sure Also when did a 60 or 70 point player become easily replaceable especially when this team is so cheap? You can't keep hoping Snow hits the lottery with the Moulson's of the world |

You heard here first...Islanders sign Stoll (or someone like him) in free agency to a 2 year deal...he centers the 2nd line between Okposo and Bailey...and either they sign PA or they pickup a power forward to play with JT and Moulson...the 3rd line is Ullstrom, Neilsen and Grabner...Cizikas, Martin and Haley (if they sign him) and Reasoner make up the 4th line...those are your 2012-13 Islanders forwards... |

i dont see a 5 year/15 million contract as a good contract, so right there might be where we disagree.
whether they are below the cap floor or not really doesnt matter cause we all know that the NHL cap floor is essentially the islanders cap ceiling, they arent spending much more than the floor.
not hoping for another moulson, im hoping for EITHER another moulson, a few of MANY prospects to step up, a FA signing or a trade |
