Is it true that the Isles are still using the pay scale from the 80's?? - Vukota

This. That deal is so terrible and it's only going to drive the market price for 2nd line players through the roof. If PAP is looking for a longer term contract, is he willing to take a slight reduction in salary (salary of 3yr offer I mean) to get the extended length? 5yrs 15 mil isn't a terrible contract in my opinion. Except now that Jones got 4yrs/4mil per and PA is clearly a better player, he's probably going to ask for the same or more. - eichiefs9
except that he ties up a spot on the team when there are prospects developing who are PROJECTED to be better than him.... |

i wouldnt call it blind faith more than just giving the guy time to do his job over the off season. no point in getting all worked about something that hasnt happene yet OR about something that can be fixed/amended/put together before there is any damage.
lets not forget, A LOT of people on here (i honestly wasnt one of them) thought going into the season last year the islanders were good enough to compete for a 7-8th place finish....just sayin, hindsight is 20/20 - LetsGoIsles
That's just crazy talk. There is a reason why every source for hockey news picked them near the bottom or at the bottom. It's not a conspiracy against the Islanders which a lot of fans think. There is a reason why they have the reputation they have, it's warranted. Believe me if Snow does something to improve this team he will get a lot of fans on board. |

I'm not trying to argue with you but you can't call it late round success if two of those players are the only ones to be regular NHL'ers one of which is no longer on the team. These other guys haven't played enough IMO to call them success stories - Cptmjl
you can argue with me.. everyone does... in answer to u an Vukota..
you can cll it Late round success b/c they are tradeable assetts RIGHT NOW. All those players listed are easily moved if you wanted to trade them.. Their value is their sucess. I can keep going with the late round sucess stories if you want... Gervais 6th , AMack 6th, campoli 7th, ..before u crush me this was responding to them having no Scouting. These are all NHL players in very late rounds and I challenge u to find other team with that many late round sucess stories. |

No I wasn't on here but I did read posts from time to time. I wasn't saying what you said was crazy talk, I saw people post that. I was saying people actually thinking that is nuts. We didn't have a shot and I'm not saying it in hind sight. |

What if those projections are wrong? Why worry about 3 or 4 years down the road? Address that situation when it comes to a head. Its not like they are an offensive force and they can just let guys who put up points in the NHL walk for nothing and hope that their prospects sometime down the road might be able to duplicate that?? |

And exactly what kind of value do you think they have? Every team has guys like that in their system. Just another example of a fan over valuing their teams prospects |

Not going to "crush" you. I just don't think any of these players can be called success stories. Gervais ALWAYS sucked and Campoli wasn't much better. I will forever be puzzled by that trade with Ottawa? Amac I hope comes back a different player this year but success story might not be the best adjective to describe these players? |

a 6ht and 7th round pick making the NHL is very tough.. when u have multiple ones playing for years in the NHL that is sucess. |

I get your point but these guys would have never played for 90% of the teams in the NHL. I know they played for other teams afterwards but I think you see my point? I know Chicago see's my point with Campoli |

what if?? what if the roof caves in? what if the plane crashes? i hear your point but the essence of a rebuild is stocking up on enough guys that the sheer numbers work in your favor that some of the guys pan out (with some veteran presence sprinkled in)...what if crosby, malkin, fluery, letang sucked? what if kane, toews, byfuglien sucked? sure it happens, but thats how you rebuild.... |
