facts are not welcome here...youve been gone awhile but youll learn soon. its much easier for some to poke fun than acknowledge the reality of the situation - LetsGoIsles

Heard this before, there has been no progress. The one positive is we have more "prospects" most of which I feel aren't half as good as they are being sold to the fan base which is the norm for most clubs. They have to start showing some progress to warrant the term "rebuild". If anything they went backwards this year. Keeping Capuano as coach is inexcusable, I find it hard that Snow either wants to win or knows how with moves/non-moves like this. - Cptmjl
i happen to 100% agree with this comment....and id add this past year was a step backwards...this offseason has been a step backwards as well- cappy staying on board and uncertainty of pap (id bet hes gone), garth has to get his ducks in order and start moving forward.
having said that, the offseason is very young and he has time to prove himself.... |

Maybe we trade PA's rights with a prospect and a pick for a D man? - mighty13duck

All joking aside it would be nice to finally see us going after some quality free agents. Any inside info about who we may be targeting? - mighty13duck
look at players NOT named Parise or Suter.
Then look at the gaps they need to fill:
Matt Carle and others. But realistically, unless someone like Streit, they need to aim for players who can use the opportunity of icetime - so that leaves under the radar players.
Or in the end, we are stuck with the scrap heap Pandolfo and others came from.

and someone has to be uber interested. PA likely not to generate that kind of interest. |

Are you saying they don't suck? - Vukota
Their scouting system definetly doesn't suck.. how else do u explain all the late round sucesses recently? Casey C in the 4th , Lee in the 6th, Donovan in the 4t, Ullstrom in the 4th, Matt Martin 5th, Poulin the 5th, Dibo and Spurgeon the 6th, |

Fair Enough, but Issue is unless PAP asking for the Moon & Stars why not give him fair market value and keep him? If they are throwing big contracts around to UFA's why be so cheap with guys who actually want to stay here? - Vukota
I believe Garth did. I believe it is a 3 year deal. BUT PA wants 4 or even 5. Remember, PA's point of view is that this might be his ONLY big payday....
I also think the money is out of whack also. Garth gave what he believes is fair market. I also think the Avs Jones deal threw everything into poopter. Guy making 4 million per with half the stats PA had.
Now PA doesn't want to admit his stats had big bump thanks to Moulson/JT line. So this will play out and we will see what happens.
If PA gone, unless Isles fill via trade/UFA... expect Bailey & Okposo to be looked at. Perhaps Bailey to be longterm answer? (if develops... master passer to two huge goal scorers)

Cpt: lets revisit this after this season.
Not happy with coach either. - B.D. Gallof
OK, hope to see management try to improve the team in the off season. I think just seeing that will change a lot of fans minds. |

I'll give you that and i hope he does. I just don't understand the blind faith in him doing so? The same people were saying the same things last year and we got the same results. The next couple weeks will hopefully be interesting. |

This. That deal is so terrible and it's only going to drive the market price for 2nd line players through the roof. If PAP is looking for a longer term contract, is he willing to take a slight reduction in salary (salary of 3yr offer I mean) to get the extended length? 5yrs 15 mil isn't a terrible contract in my opinion. Except now that Jones got 4yrs/4mil per and PA is clearly a better player, he's probably going to ask for the same or more.

Is it true that the Isles are still using the pay scale from the 80's?? |

I'm not trying to argue with you but you can't call it late round success if two of those players are the only ones to be regular NHL'ers one of which is no longer on the team. These other guys haven't played enough IMO to call them success stories.
Edit With that being said I love Martin and wish we had one or two more players just like him |

i wouldnt call it blind faith more than just giving the guy time to do his job over the off season. no point in getting all worked about something that hasnt happene yet OR about something that can be fixed/amended/put together before there is any damage.
lets not forget, A LOT of people on here (i honestly wasnt one of them) thought going into the season last year the islanders were good enough to compete for a 7-8th place finish....just sayin, hindsight is 20/20 |
