First of all, you people who think other teams are going to give up a boatload for the top pick have no idea.
Strome, Haan & the 4th for the 1st overall - LMAO!! Yeah Garth Snow isn't the brightest GM out there but he's not stupid either.
Give your head a shake.
Secondly, the oilers will NOT get both Yakapov & Reinhart without giving up a substanial return to move up in the first round if that's there thinking.
So instead of you Oiler fans always thinking teams will give their best players for crap, think again.
You will NOT get Cam Fowler & the Ducks pick for the 1st. Anyone thinking that is clued right out. |

How about Yakupov for the Isles 4th overall pick, Strome and De Haan? Or I have a better idea what about for Henrique and Larsson? - zach parise9
Are you kidding me. The Isles would never give up that much for the 1st. You Oiler fans are dillusional. |

I probably don't do it. I don't think Gardiner becomes much more than a top 4 guy and I don't think the player at 5 will be a top pairing guy or top line guy.
I do think at 1 you are more than likely getting a top line player and I don't trade quality for quantity. - Lahey
Unfortunately I agree. But I still wouldnt do Gardiner + 5th for the first. One thing I will say about the kid is that he is extremely fun to watch. Few players I have seen can calmly skate the puck up the ice with a man all over them like Gardiner can. |

I can't wait until John Tavares contract expires since he is good friends with Sam Gagner it is pretty much a lock that he signs in Edmonton to play with his good buddy Sammy G.

Another idiot comment from a dreaming oiler fan.

Scouts and teams are starting to think 1-5 are closer than ever....as a result I don't think there will be many trades unless a team wants a specific position player. If teams just want best player available, it may not be worth it to trade up. For example, Toronto would prefer to have a centre, and would more likely trade with Columbus to get Gslchenyuk, than to give a kings ransom for Yakupov. |

So just to summarize, the Oilers wouldn't get a substantial return for the #1 pick....
.... but would have to give up a substantial return for the 5/6/7 pick or where ever Reinhart is drafted. |

I really only do the deal if this is something like the 06 or 07 draft where there is 5 guys that are pretty close ranked.
I would love to get Gardiner, but I just don't know that our scouts see it that close of a draft. |

For me, its Yakupov as the #1, then a slight drop off to Gally, Grigs and Murray.
After that I think there is another drop off to Reinhart, Forsberg, Dumba, etc |

What i'm saying is there's no way the Oilers are getting that much from any team to move to #1.
Secondly, if the oilers do take Yakupov and then want to get back into the top 10 to grab Reinhart, the price tag will be steep because teams who currently hold those picks will know that. If you think the Oilers won't be forced to give up something substanial, then again, you have no clue. Other teams know very well the abundance of solid d-men in this draft, there just not going to give up a top 10 pick for nothing. |

I doubt it, teams no all the time that when they are called for their pick that the other team really wants someone, whether it's Reinhart or Dumba or whoever. It's not going to matter if it's the Oilers calling or the Jackets calling.
Also where is all this coming out that we want Reinhart? |

This happens every draft we have found out. Taylor Hall or Tyler Seguin. Nugent-Hopkins or Adam Larsson. Seems like a certain guy will spend most of the year being the top rated guy, then as the draft approaches suddenly there are all these questions. A media type or two says a contrary thing or two and suddenly all the prospect experts crawl out of the woodwork.
Like I keep saying, I just want this draft over with. Its making my (frank)ing head hurt. |

Reality check please. There are a bunch of kids in Gardiner's draft who handle the puck and skate better than he does. Stop escalating the expectations on this kid. When he takes on more minutes against tougher line matches next year we will see the usual sophomore slump. Be careful you don't do to him what the idiots did to Schenn after a promising rookie debut. The kid is okay but he is a long way behind some of the elite Dmen taken in his draft. |

Then EDM keeps the 1st pick, what your trolling around in this thread for? It's stated clearly by EDM GM a "significant offer" has to be on the table, otherwise don't bother calling. |
