Will you be as happy to see the draft over with as i will?
- TheTaoOfSemenko

I'm somewhat excited, actually. I like Yakupov and hope that's who we pick, but picking Murray or even Gally is justifiable. So long as we're not trading around to get Griffin Reinhart and a 2nd, it could be an exciting night!

There's nothing wrong if he comes back here...but he's got to smarten up with the trolling.

Got 4 warnings...I think I was more than fair.

You definitely were...that escalated quickly. I refreshed, saw a ton of deleted posts and Jimmy was gone!

I hope he's back before the draft to let us know how Burke is going to fleece Tambs for the pick!

I think your right.

It is great fun to speculate on hitting a grand slam by dealing the pick and trying to get two or even three great players. But, the harder you swing the greater the chance that you might strike out.

The safest play is the obvious. You take the best player. Clearly that is Yakupov even though some voices are trying to ratchet up a debate.

Then you also have Jason Gregor saying he prefers Galchenyuk - being the strong center option - that presence down the middle is more important then the wing...it has me wishing Gally would have played this whole season. Though are many methods to building a champion, Gregor has point.

Because he prefers 'yuk' over Yak - he was saying if the Oilers could get Schenn and some how ensure yuk would slip to 5 he'd do it in a heartbeat.

And it makes me wonder...

- Salvo

I think teams at #4 and down that need a centre will more likely try to trade with Columbus first. They'll keep him from Montreal, and will force Edmonton to take a pick, which, in all likelihood is the right pick, but one they may prefer not to in exchange for other solid assets.

No, you did good.

It became apparent that he had very little interest in the substance of the hockey discussion and was more intent on distracting everyone away from talking about the most exciting time of the year for fans who do not have a playoff team.

I also think you have a special challenge in policing this particular blog. Richard has done a great job in cleaning up his act and he is far and away the most improved blogger on the site. But, you do have to be patient with some if the posters and recognize that Richard has a history. Periodically he lapses into his old patterns but for the most part he has been pretty balanced in his approach. I thought his treatment of this particular item was superb.

Four warnings was appropriate before banging the hammer on his head.

I've had my disagreements with you but this was a damn good post.

If Columbus ever did deal the pick, it would make the #1 even more valuable. Maybe the Oil might actually be forced to do a deal. How about the #1 and Hemsky to Washington for John Carlson, the #11 (Maata) and #16 (Koekkoek)?

Carlson would be great, but those picks have way to high of a probability to bust, (or even be average players) to give up two guys that will likely be top 3 forwards next year.

This happens every draft we have found out. Taylor Hall or Tyler Seguin. Nugent-Hopkins or Adam Larsson. Seems like a certain guy will spend most of the year being the top rated guy, then as the draft approaches suddenly there are all these questions. A media type or two says a contrary thing or two and suddenly all the prospect experts crawl out of the woodwork.

Like I keep saying, I just want this draft over with. Its making my (frank)ing head hurt.

- TheTaoOfSemenko

Holy eff yes. Every year. Tavares' skating... Stamkos ceiling...kanes size.

Nail was the guy last year too. His rookie season was ridiculous.

The prospect guys get the spotlight for a short period of time every year. Maybe id try and make the most of it too.

Washington doesn't need more forwards right now. They're starting to build their defence, and those picks and Carlson are essential to that. That #1 pick will only be more valuable if teams are willing to trade some of their top prospects/young players, which right now, doesn't seem likely. It may increase the value of Columbus' pick more than anything...

I disagree, they lose Semin and all of a sudden it's a battle between Chimera and Brouwer for 2nd best on WSH.

No yaks or hemsky??
then we're short a top 6 rw'er....

Not to mention we dont know if prv will be ready for the left side either.
And gagner is a small, average 2nd line center.

Our 2nd line potentially goes from; formidable, to a question mark, to bad.
