Dude keep up. I always start out serious but them am forced to get more and more ironical as I see complete morons (not you) try to use condescension in place of actual arguments.

Its like that taoofsteve clown, the guy adds no original thoughts and then calls everyone who disagrees with him a "troll". I think the guy watched Willow one too many times. Though hes probably way too young to know what a Willow is.

You're not playing a bit are you? You're actually serious when you say things aren't you?

God help us all...

Ask the majority of scouts around the league, the first overall pick is NOT as clear-cut as you Oiler fans are making it out to be.

If it was, the Oilers wouldn't even be considering trading it. And by the way, it's all a smokescreen anyways, the Oilers will take Yakupov but WILL NOT get their shot at Reinhart UNLESS they're giving up a top-end prospect in return.

Klefbom is an example but i know, i know, there's no way they're giving up Klefbom is what you'll say because all you coiler fans seem to think all other GMs are stupid and you'd rob them in any deal.

I guess that's why your GM is so smart because he picks first year after year. And Lowe, well he's done a bang-up job in all his years as well, i can't believe these guys don't ice a competitive team - it's amazing!!1

- newmy

Remember that time I gave you a huge list of plausible assets that could garner a 10th overall pick and you completely ignored it?

How to act in an internet comments section:

1) Be sarcastic and condescending, but never offer an argument
2) Even though its a common and obvious ploy, attempt to be the first to "take the high road"
3) Don't actually think for yourself, just repeat things you heard or reads elsewhere that you know people will agree with.
4) If anyone seems like they might be smarter than you, call them a "troll"
5) If you see anyone who doesnt just conform to the mob, enact steps 1-4

Just stop. This is one of the blogs that a Leaf fan can come to and be fully respected and talk hockey as long as you stick to hockey. Another blog along those lines is the Senator blog by Yost. So, I need for you to tone it down and be respectful. Dissent is fine, but you are being excessively provocative in your comments about the fans of the Oilers. It is okay to disagree with their opinion or what they say. It is not appropriate to be condescending or rude.

So anyways, what would you guys think it might genuinely take to get into spots 6-10? Gagner andnext years 1st?

You talking keeping our first and then also grabbing a 6-10?

That might do it...although Gagner's value is all kinds of weird.

Stauffer is a Zorch.

If Yakupov isn't drafted #1, the Oilers are (frank)ing morons.

- laughs2907

Then you also have Jason Gregor saying he prefers Galchenyuk - being the strong center option - that presence down the middle is more important then the wing...it has me wishing Gally would have played this whole season. Though are many methods to building a champion, Gregor has point.

Because he prefers 'yuk' over Yak - he was saying if the Oilers could get Schenn and some how ensure yuk would slip to 5 he'd do it in a heartbeat.

And it makes me wonder...

God I hope they don't do something like that, just say NO to the high cost of low probability 5-10 picks!!

Yes. An additional top 10. Then we could possibly still get a Reinhart or a Reilly which would be hugely beneficial. Moving Gags leave us thin at C so I'd rather move Hemsky but realistically I don't think he holds enough value, even though he should.

Next years 1st is the really dicey part.

I honestly think trading your 1st this year is your best way to get an awesome young solid dman AND draft another D at 5-10.

Gags might have more value to the oilers then he is able to fetch in a trade.

I struggle with the question. On one hand, the oil have the assets to do it. On the other the price might be too steep. I think a great draft for the Oil would be if they came out of the first day with Subban, Murray and Koekkoek. I figure the maximum cost to get this kind of dealing done would be the 1st overall plus Hemsky and maybe a second. It appears to be a high price but it would accelerate the rebuild so that the D was rapidly going to catch up with the forwards. And, you might do it more cheaply. But, don't be too quick to reject the idea (or one similar to it). The Oil need to start winning and to do that you need to dramatically improve the back end. If not all the young talent up front will start to become discouraged by the losing.

As one of those self-proclaimed geniuses, I hope that it's the last straw for him in the sense that he doesn't come back after his ban, and not in the sense that he starts mailing bombs to universities in Illinois.

No, you did good.

It became apparent that he had very little interest in the substance of the hockey discussion and was more intent on distracting everyone away from talking about the most exciting time of the year for fans who do not have a playoff team.

I also think you have a special challenge in policing this particular blog. Richard has done a great job in cleaning up his act and he is far and away the most improved blogger on the site. But, you do have to be patient with some if the posters and recognize that Richard has a history. Periodically he lapses into his old patterns but for the most part he has been pretty balanced in his approach. I thought his treatment of this particular item was superb.

Four warnings was appropriate before banging the hammer on his head.

You pretty much summed it up perfectly.
