Were better off keeping him and seeing if he can develope rather than him being a "throw In" prospect in a trade

I agree with that, I just wouldnt hold your breath. He is too clunky, IMO (as it pertains to his top 6 potential).

Im hoping the Rangers or Flyers trade for Rick Nash and upset the nice youth movement they both have going on.
- Gunner Staal

I don't think I want to see Nash in the EC... but I do agree that it would be nice to see one of those teams ruin their youth movement.

If only we could ruin our La Core movement now!

I agree... I thought maybe he would be better for the Sabres as a winger than at center...

Leino - ?? - Adam as the 3rd line could perhaps do something if they have the right center... I am still hoping that center is a vet like Arnott

He was the biggest disappointment for me at the few Amerks games I went to. In each game there were flashes where you could see that there is skill and ability present. But for most of the game he just coasted. His size is a non-factor.

Some guys are lazy in the AHL and bring it in the big leagues. Not uncommon at all. He definitely showed more potential in the first couple months of last season. It makes it that much harder to give up on the guy.

Steckel would make a hell of a lot more sense than in his role than Gaustad, that is for sure. Useful 4th line player, perhaps a touch expensive for what he does but a better bargain than Gaustad.

Langenbrunner and Arnott would be guys to give a look.

Well let me ask this questions as I never got the chance to catch much of the Amerks...

Do we have ANY offensive threats on the Amerks that could be seen as value in a trade package.. I know we lost Schezchura to KHL.. but besides that is what Whitmore, Sydkolski (sp), and Varone??

i think most of our offensive value in the minors is Catenacci, Armia, and Sundher am i wrong?

I edited and took Steckel out because he has one more year with Toronto I guess...

You know a guy who i really like for a bottom 6 is Florida's Jerrod Smithson.. his faceoff % is very very good and he is underrated for his size. He doesn't have a huge offensive upside but he could play the same game as Gaustad for cheaper.

Arnott, Langenbrunner, Rich Peverly, Andrew Brunette, Brendan Morrisson, Jay McClement, Adam Burish, John Madden, Brandon Prust, John Mitchell, Konopka, Scott Nichol, Keith Aucoin, and Kyle Wellwood

are all decent or at least veteran type bottom 6 guys available this year.. Some are obvious that are probably done or past their prime.

Scott Nichol would be a good 4th line player, he still lives in Rochester.

Out of the group I mentioned...

I would like to see a 3rd line center of Arnott or Jay McClement.

I would like to see a 4th line addition of Mitchell, Prust, Konopka, or Nichol.

I wanted Burnette last year but he proven he is done.. so is Madden and Morrisson.

Burish, Parros, or McGratten would be awfully nice to beat the f#*k out of the other teams.

I like the 4th line

I would rather go with a younger player like wellwood then arnott
then use the money to get a vet winger for the top 6 like Morrow

Hell Get Ott from the stars while we are at it

ding.. when he is on his game he can really steal (steel) games.. when his head isn't in the game (like because lucic scrambled his brains) he just isn't athletic enough to be good anymore..

anyway this could get long and old if we start talking about it again.

Morrow has another year in Dallas.. he isn't a UFA yet.

I think i would really like to see Parros/Prust/Konopka/Mitchell added.. all of them will punish the sh!t out of the other team.. Prust has the all-around best game out of them though.

Kane is listed as a center (not sure how often he has that role, I know he played wing). To me Luke Adam has zero value. He is a dime a dozen fringe guy much like Eric Tangradi is in Pittsburgh. Some people will always hold out hope that they will amount to something but it will most likely only be shown in quick glimpses and dissipate.

I could tell he worked on his skating

it's not where it needs to be but I remember he was a step faster then Semin in the Caps game

Luongo will get more than that... won't he!? Kardi sucks in the NHL he is their version of Keith Aucoin.. kills it in AHL.. sucks in NHL

I would think Nash would get a different crop coming back then that but I like the originality.

the Sabres/Sharks trade isn't all that bad actually.. I don't know if SJ will want to take on all that salary though.

Ballard i could see that being done..

I like it...

does he suit up for more then 20 games if he was a sabre, serious question

I think the team needs to get a lot tougher, but from players getting 15 minutes or more ice time a game

Not downplaying him at all, anything to beef up the 4th line is a good thing
