Heres a deal.. jay bo for gomez.. two ugly contracts swapped. and for good messure we will throw in a second round pick. - bast_003
wasn't it with Minny that Montreal swapped Latendresse for someone too that were both playing out to be busts for both teams? |

do you see my angle there though??
Everyone kind of forgets about how Colorado is a pretty nice little Hockey paradise to play in..
I think the Avs need to be in the next Winter Classic.. there was talk about the old rivalry of Detroit vs Colorado at the Big House this year before Toronto got put in instead. - JVince117
they do have nice pieces and contended for the playoffs and its a very good hockey town to play in, i just dont think colorado would be high up even though they have a ton of cash to spend |

Brodeur has stated he needs to know by July 1 what the Devils are doing with him.
Huh? Where did you get this nonsense? He said exactly the opposite...that he doesn't plan on doing anything until at least July 1st.

not even close to enough. Columbus wangs two, young nhl talents, prospects and a 1st round pick. - tomburton99
I dont believe Howson is thinking he can get too lucky with Nash ,
I would do:
Nash
for
Niemi
Mitchell
Pavelsky

I like Colorado's team lay out so much for the next few years... If Duchene's ankle was 100% healthy they would have made the playoffs this year..
Landeskog - Stastny - Hejduk
Duchene - O'Reilly - Downie
that's a scary talented group right there..
I know Avs have said they are gonna go after a big stay at home D-man to pair with Johnson and I think that is gonna be Suter.
Thats gonna be very tempting for a lot of free agents not to see the potential in that group. Especially if they pluck a 27+ veteran winger to put in place for Hejduk. |

Agreed... Parise is like a shark that just got a whif of blood but couldn't make the kill... there are only a small number of "solid" contenders that he will be okay with leaving NJ for if he did indeed leave.
Boston, Chicago, Det, LA, NJ, NYR, Philly, Pit, SJ, and Van are really the only year in and year out solid contenders in my eyes... Wsh and NASH are close. - JVince117
Not even close. Teams with the most wins since the year 2000
1 .Detroit
2. New Jersey
3. Ottawa
4. St Jose
5. Dallas
6. Colorado
The NHL is highly cyclical. Some teams have the ability to rebuild and remain competitive over longer periods of time. Teams like New Jersey and Ottawa are well advanced in their rebuilds having missed the playoffs just a couple of years ago. Detroit is in a major rebuild and may avoid missing the playoffs altogether, same for San Jose.

I remember Howson wanted something like Dubi, Kreider, MDZ and a 1st, I can't remember what Slats was countering with. |

I guess any deal with a serviceable starting goalie will make Howson trade Nash for just about anything. |

as much as jbo drive she nuts, and I would like to see him get traded. he is not a bust, he's just overpaid. And calgary can't really lose him.
he eats 20+minutes a night. Be top 4 on any team in the league. And can skate better then most D.
I think part of it is he didn't fit with stutters game plan, so his strengths weren't used and he was supposed to D up more then attack.
IF paired up with someone that would hit (cause he hits like a girl), that would be a top D pairing on majority of teams.
He's just overpaid for what he does. Not a bust like Gomez |

You call that line up scary talented? I don't know about that. Have you seen Hejduk over the past couple years? He's really starting to show his age. I like Downie, but I don't think he's a second liner. O'Reily, Landeskog and Duchene are good and will continue to get better, but that line up in no way is "scary." Colorado is still a ways off. |

Calgary doesn't have the goods for Staal. Outside of Baertschi, who would Pittsburgh be interested in that fits under the cap and it good enough? - Oneonta Penguin

I... like most of the hockey world... is under the impression that Jokinen staying in Calgary is almost a given. - JVince117
he wants to stay, so hopefully will sign cheap. But if Feaster really plans on cervenka being the 2nd line centre. Jokinen isn't needed.
But I think its largely dependant on if they can sign a solid 3rd line D (shutdown centre) that can actually win face-offs. Gaustad/stoll...no longer slater whom I hoped they'd go for.

I'm not doubting the Flames will try to trade JBo, and I don't think he's totally untradeable (he's overpaid by a few million bucks but still has played a lot of minutes). However, I doubt that many teams are interested. |

That appeared to be the case in late February-early March, however, I think things have changed somewhat since then. Not sure if the Flames are going to bring back any of their UFAs from what ive read.
I was already cold on resigning Olli (like the guy above said, nothing more than 2 years) but realizing he's one of the "top" center UFAs makes it even more sketchy |
