Parise is staying in Jersey..

Suter will go to whoever offers the most money. I don't believe a word of this only west conf horse crap.. .remember Smythe would only go to a Canadian team.. all BS.

I'm pretty sure I would have to agree....

When you start talking about 7-8M per year to Suter or Parise.. i'm pretty sure their ears will open up unless you are a bottom 15 team.

unfortunately Detroit has a ton of cap room and will probably be able to give him what he wants... so I would bet he is on RedWings.

Very plausible. That team is nothing but swedes though.

I for some reason really think that Parise wants to play with atleast 1-2 USA team members.

I actually think Colorado is going to be a really dark horse. 40M cap space. Oodles of young talent... a hockey heaven location..

After I read this quote I decided there is no effing way he is leaving that team. That team is very very tight and a quote like that after losing in the cup championship speaks volumes.. to me. surprised it did not get more press.

“I’d rather be,” Dainius Zubrus said, “in this locker room than anywhere else.”

Yes.. every player in that lockerroom is like a shark with a sniff of blood but no feeding time to go along with it.

I think Parise's chances of staying in NJ are around 70%+.

As an Islander fan and a long islander I would not mind seeing Komi come home. Their top priority is a top pairing d-man (not Komi).. after they fill that need through draft, Trade or FA... I could see them taking on Komi for 5/6 d-man. especially if Leafs through in a pick to get rid of his sallary (3d or 4th). They need some attitude and grit on the back line. Hamonic is great but rest is pathetic and he would be a huge upgrade from the Eaton, Jurcina, Mottau, Staios crew we had out there last year.
- niteislander

Komi and our 5th for your 4th.....you're prob drafting a D anyways and we aren't, so you basically get Komi for free without jeopardizing your draft choice...

Okay... Giroux stats are what htey are because he is a good passer..

Kovy is 31 and has potted a sh!t ton of goals... 38, 41, 52, 42, 52, 43, 31, 31, and 37 goal seasons.. Giroux hasn't topped 30 yet..

Alot of people can get assists.. but a guy that can pot that many goals I would take in a heartbeat.

PA Parenteau dished 49 assists this year but i wouldn't put him in the same breath.

- JVince117

Though you make a good point about the importance of goals
vs assists the really elite passers are basically creating goals
also. Guys like Thornton, h sedin, Marc savard; not sure if
giroux is in that class but maybe. These guys put the puck on
a tee for the goal scorer.

I agree.... But where would you rank Giroux in the top talent of the NHL.. even with it evolving and changing every year...

Mine:
Crosby
Malkin
Stamkos
Datysuk
Ovechkin
H. Sedin
Kovy
Parise
Giroux

but then again.. its just my opinion.

I'd move Giroux up a few spots ahead of Sedin.

and i would be fine with that.. I wouldn't argue.. its just if I was starting a franchise today.. and it was an all out fantasy draft.. I would take the other guys ahead of Giroux because I think they have shown more talent for an extended period of time and with less around them.

I personally just think that Giroux has benefited from having guys like Richards, Carter, Hartnell, JVR, Gagne, Lupol, Knuble, and even Leino (53 pts).

I don't understand why the Sharks fans aren't mentioning Joe Thornton's name in the trade rumors. He could be exactly what the Jackets want. Pavelski and Couture are more than ready to carry the reigns at the top 2 center lines. And if there's an injury to one of the two, then Marleau can fill on at center as well.

would need a stay home D, garrison is more like Jbo. But with a big shot rather then a skater.

BUT he's RH so could pair up with Gio nicely

- numbear

That's what I was thinking... Then maybe bring in a guy like Zanon to play with Butler or Brodie.

No, I do. The Sharks have been my 2nd favorite team since I was a little kid. The Shark tank rocks. I'm a big supporter of Marleau as well, but that's a different topic. I think the core of that team needs to be shaken up. They had a really bad season and that core has been together long enough. Thornton is a great player, don't get me wrong. But he's not a player that warrants 8 mil a season in my opinion. He comes up short in the playoffs. He doesn't kill penalties. Pavelski and Couture ate more than ready to step it up and take the reigns at the center ice position. The Sharks need a shake up. And I would trade Thornton for Nash, straight up.

Thornton only makes $7 million. And unforunately I think Nash would only come here if Thronton was staying.
