Agree completely. Martin's not a terrible player... He had a bad year, but he's another #3/#4 defenseman, and we already have 3-4 of those.

if hartley uses him right.

But flames can't trade him without a good top 2 D coming back. so it's not going to happen.

They aren't getting suter or weber. And any of the other UFA's are the same as....not as good as job (salary not considered)

Marleau isn't 35 lol, he's 32. Only Kovy and Ovi have scored more goals in the past 4 seasons than Patty. He's outscored Rick Nash every year of his career except for his injury riddled 07/08 campaign.

The dollars and skill sets make much more sense for these 2 players to be traded, with obviously something else coming from the Sharks side. Something like...

To Columbus: Patrick Marleau, Antti Niemi, Jason Demers, and a 2nd round pick

The big issue with trading Patty is his NMC he signed with new contract last year. His wife is from San Jose, he has played here his whole career and I don't see him waiving his NMC to go to Columbus.
