Jay Bouwmeester at 6.68M (cap hit)? Anyone like this move? What forward are they going to give up trying to acquire him?

1. Weber
2. E.Johnson
3. Myers
4. Yandle

What package would you put together for E Johnson?

I have no problem with Carter being unhappy in Columbus. I think the Flyers cant be at fault when trading Carter was still an option in his current contract that he signed. Carter might not expected to be traded (based on words) but his contract says otherwise. The Flyers are going to do whats best for the team. Its a business.
- stveshdy

It's a business. The Flyers are only required to follow the rules of the CBA and the contract. They didn't violate any rules whatsoever. Maybe it wasn't fair to trade him, but that's life in the big World. But I also see the flip side and understand how Carter probably felt and I would have been pissed if I was in his shoes. I place myself in his position before I would criticize him.

Carter had every right to be unhappy with what went down -- I would have been. But it's the way he acted when he got traded. He acted like a spoiled baby, and I completely understand why people would be disgusted with his initial reaction.

Well as I said previously, I don't agreee that he acted like a spoiled baby. I think it's just the opposite. He took some time to himself to think about it rather then giving his initial feelings. He had every right to do so. If anything, I blame his agent. He should have stepped in and put a public face out there.

My words came out wrong typing and I apologize to everyone for that. Carter has the right to be pissed. I was only stating what you posted just now. The Flyers did nothing wrong and Carter knew the possibility of being traded could happen. I'll move on now, sorry again.

i understand a lot of what people are trying to say. it's a message board, we all have our own opinions instead of agenda's.
once carter was traded he was no longer a Flyer. How he acted was CBJ's problem not the Flyers. It did validate to a small extent his behavoir that has been written about...

bring back the armchair GM's...
bring back Holik complaining...
That BeerFest HB style never happened....

oh wait, there is a new hockey season slowly approaching...
is it the trading deadline yet...

- phi1671

What validated Carter as a player was being a key member of the Cup winning LA Kings. And also debunked all the nonsense that's been said about him.

Didn't the Flyers have interest in him before? Thought there were rumors about his name a couple years back. Not sure what to think about him. I dont get to see him much now that he plays in Calgary. Don't know if hes worth that cap hit. However, he only has two years left on that deal.

Obviously, it was about more then just money. If it was about money, why wouldn't he have been ahppy in Columbus? Was the paycheck different?

Took some time to think about it? Yeah, that was a nice PR spin. He was traded, not signing a new deal with a new team.

If you're unhappy with a trade, you still act like a professional, report to your new team and don't insulate yourself from your new organization and the media.

You can put any spin on it that you (or his agent) wants, but he handled the situation poorly and deserves criticism for that.

how do you know this? do you have sources, links or articles? he's only been in LA less then half a year...
key member member on the top line on two teams, traded and was supporting player on his third team. But winning the Stanely Cup...

oh wait, you must be writing a commercial...let me add the ending...

Winning the Stanley Cup....PRICELESS.

He's living much more fortunate than most. So I don't feel bad at all. I don't care why he doesn't like it there, but I imagine a lot of players get traded to places they don't like. Deal with it.

No, none.

In seriousness. I just can't even fathom this guy being on the O and B. Any forward would be too much IMHO. If Bryz is involved then maybe. Or...

PHI: JBO + a 1st
CGY: JVR

or

PHI: JBO + Gelncross
CLG: JVR + Bob + Lilja + Walker

or

PHI: JBO + Kipper
CLG: JVR + Bryz

All completely absurd!

Guy I work with son is on the Kings ice crew, got to drink out of the cup while Brown held it for him

Now hes at the parade........

I guess civilians can do stuff with the cup, I believe he held it over his head. I have photos of another friend drinking out of it with Tyler Kennedy pouring it for him.

Can't wait till I get to drink out of the cup.

- he has a NTC
- he has an exorbitant cap hit
- he shoots left-handed, when the Flyers have a strong need for a righty
- there's speculation that he didn't want to play for the Flyers back when he was about to become a UFA

i will forever enjoy Jon Runyan
he was asked by the media why he chose to come to the Eagles. He simply replied, "they offered the most money".
in the end it's a business.

I also remember Carter's agent telling the media that both the player and himself are aware of the Flyers cap issues. But he still wouldn't sign for less then 5 million. So, at that point both agent and Carter played the "it's business card".
