I don't even have to look it up to know you just copied and pasted it from mynhldraft.com. Nice try but Dumba is well documented for being a question mark defensively. He puts himself way out of position to throw the big hit and is often left chasing rather than playing stable defense. You just have this vision in your mind that the Leafs could grab the next Phaneuf so then we could have two mindless head hunters patrolling the blueline.
- Unholy_Goalie

2 phaneufs would be terrifying, also Dumba is under sized for that game.

Take 1 of Gally(not likely left but ideal), Griggs, Murray, or Forsberg(personally my least favorite)

the bolded concerns me.. kinda lanky at 6 feet.. if he doesnt fill out he would get dominated physically in the pro leagues

that is really my only beef with dumba tho

- Dozzer

Officially, his weight is up to 184, as of the Combine... but man, watching his interview, that seems low. That weight has him around Kadri's weight, and he doesn't look anywhere near as scrawny

If we could flip those picks to get another high pick maybe but those 2 picks ended up being Shawne Lalonde and Matt Clark.

I understand fully that drafting is of the utmost importance, but I believe that you should do it with the picks you have and I don't really place a lot of value on anything outside of the top 15 really. Not worth the deal.

Please don't send me your Zetterberg late round stories, for every Zetterberg there was 100 other kids you've never heard of

- xxCHRISTOFIRExx

That pick turned into Lalonde but 10 picks after him, there was Adam Henrique. The talent is there, it's just a matter of finding it.

And no, this isn't about Zetterberg stories in the 7th round. These are 2nd and 3rd round picks. It's an excellent opportunity to draft some goalies. Ask the Bruins how much they like 2nd and 3rd round picks (Marchand, Krecji, Bergeron and Lucic).

that's also the only place that compares him to Phaneuf... So I'm guessing you didn't read any further, and made up your mind right there, eh?

I'm guessing you think Reilly put up Galchenyuk type numbers too.

i'm on the fence with this point.. many guys at that age make dumb decisions.. now.. taking him would be a gamble on whether or not he grows out of the mindless attempts at big hits

regardless, he's still a lil skinny for my liking tho

yeah, thats def something to consider as well.. however this season was better than the previous.. and the four before that was 81, 82, 82, 82 GP respectively

i think he is durable enough.. just a couple doozy injuries, but recoverable ones

personally i just want burke to stay the drafting route myself

The Leafs have needs to address. Dumba obviously has useful talents but he's still a gamble. He's not like Murray where you're pretty much guaranteed a smart, effective player.

From what I hear,he is easily the biggest boom or bust prospect in the draft. Could be the best player taken or a huge disappointment.

yup. But few of them are constantly lauded for their high hockey sense and defensive play.

Dumba is considered a very strong puck-mover who plays just as strong defensively, has a strong shot, and is physical. Red Line has him above Murray for that reason. Button has him as the 2nd best player, HockeysFuture has him going as high as 2nd overall as well.

The guy's a stud. Passing over him for Faksa would be a huge mistake.

if burke could swing deals to move out a couple d-men for picks/youth, then go and grab shultz via FA, I will feel alot more comfortable moving forward

I still say that the Leafs should send Komisarek and no. 5 to NYI for Strome

NYI can then flip either no. 4 or 5 along with the 34th and Calvin De Haan to EDM for Nail

Sure' you named some good 2nd and 3rd round picks, but the odds are you get guys like Marco Coseneau or Corey Flenhage who were picked on either side of Henrique.

And you can't just say you have to "find" the talent, I can only assume the Sabres and Ducks who made those aforementioned picks did all their homework and thought they were drafting talent.

Anything outside of the first round is a total crap shoot. Even the late first round is the same. Outside of the top end talent it's really hard to know who's going to develop.

Please don't misinterpret this for me advocating the dealings of our later round picks, I believe we should just keep our 2nd, 3rd 4th etc and take our shots in the dark, I just don't give them much value. The allure of a draft pick is a lot less sexy when it's attached to a name like Kenny Ryan
